Much-loved football pundit Greg Olsen is being replaced as Fox Sports' top NFL analyst after legendary quarterback Tom Brady agreed to a whopping ten-year, £295million deal with the network.

Brady, who retired from the NFL as a seven-time Super Bowl winner early last year, has been rumoured to return in the 2023 season. However, he's maintained his desire to stay retired and try new things like sports club ownership and TV.

Brady will kick off his new TV role in September when the 2024 NFL season starts. This means the Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers was Olsen's last gig as the lead NFL game analyst at Fox, with CBS hosting Super Bowl LVIII. Olsen's pay will drop from £7.8m-a-year to just £2.6m, but fans are putting pressure on Brady to perform.

One fan wrote on Twitter : "Best NFL analyst on TV isn't a former QB or coach. It's Greg Olsen," Another said: "Greg Olsen is so good at explaining football in a quick and concise way." A third added: "Man shoutout to the brilliant @gregolsen88! You were a treat to listen to bro...made the game so digestible for the viewers. You have a fan in me."

Brady has shared that he's already putting in the hard yards to prepare for television presenting, knowing there are pretty big shoes to fill. "I've been out to the FOX studios a few times and I'm really excited to join an amazing team," he shared with Pat McAfee. "Next year I'm gonna be calling a Super Bowl for Fox, which is going to be incredible."

The Las Vegas clash will see future Hall of Famer Patrick Mahomes up against one of the biggest NFL success stories, Brock Purdy. Selected in round seven by the Niners in 2022, Purdy made himself at home in San Francisco after injuries gave him his shot.

Since getting his opportunity, Purdy hasn't looked back and doesn't seen keen on releasing his starting position anytime soon. He's also one to look out for in the run-up to the 2023 MVP award.
