The BRIT Awards 2024 will see some of the biggest female stars in pop take to the stage.

The awards show sparked fury last year when the coveted Artist of the Year award shunned women entirely and saw an all-male line-up revealed after the ceremony decided to dispose of gendered awards. Now it seems the BRIT Awards show organisers are going the extra mile to correct the issues of the year below by lining up huge female stars to take part in the show.

Kylie - who is one of the International Artist of the Year nominees - is tipped to take to the stage to belt out hits including the 2023 smash Padam Padam and it will make it the first time the 55-year-old singer has performed on the show since 2008 when she sang Wow. On Tuesday it was confirmed that 26-year-old Hard Out Here singer Raye - who has been nominated for an impressive seven awards including Song of the Year and British Album of the Year making her the most nominated artist of the night - will also perform.

Dua Lipa, 28, - who is tipped to release her third album this year - has already been confirmed to perform. Meanwhile, Sophie Ellis Bextor, 44, who is enjoying a career renaissance after her 2001 hit Murder on the Dancefloor was propelled back into the social consciousness after it featured on the soundtrack to the recent film Saltburn, is also rumoured to be performing.

Speaking to the MailOnline about the performances, a source said: "There have been many, many discussions about the lack of gender diversity from last year. It was acknowledged it wasn't a great look so they have really gone out there to rectify the situation.

"There is going to be a very female feel to this year's show, the lineup of women is absolutely stonking, to manage to get Kylie is such a great coup. Everyone is so excited. It's a great line-up in its own right, but to have Kylie Minogue, alongside Raye, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Dua Lipa, really does emphasise the continued power of women in music today."

The 2024 awards - due to be held at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday 2 March - are tipped to be hosted by recent Big Brother hosts AJ Odudu, 35, and Will Best, 38. While the appointment is yet to be confirmed, it was reported last month that they will be taking over from outgoing host Mo Gilligan, 35.

A source told The Sun at the time: “No one was really sure how things were going to pan out after they were announced to host Big Brother but both AJ and Will have gone down amazingly with bosses and viewers at home. After six years of solo hosts, a double act would really give the show a new feel, but right now, nothing has been decided beyond the list of potentials drawn up by the organisers.”

The BRIT Awards 2024 with Mastercard will take place on Saturday 2nd March broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX - from The O2 arena.
