Shooting at LeFlore school as two students injured, suspect arrested
Police and authorities have surrounded LeFlore High School in Alabama as a school shooting has been reported.
Two student injuries has been confirmed so far, with that student being transported to the hospital. Another student was reported injured but was treated by emergency responders on the scene. According to reports, the victim was a juvenile male. The Mobile Police Department confirmed that this is not an active shooter incident.
Mobile Police Chief Paul Prine tells NBC 15 that the shooting suspect originally left campus and that police stayed in contact with the student's parents, allowing them to eventually apprehend the suspect.
This is the second time the school has experienced a shooting, with the last one being over a decade ago.

Two teenagers have been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a shooting at LeFlore High School in March of 2012. Romello Williams, 16, handed himself over to the police, while a 15-year-old boy is being held at Strickland Youth Center, according to Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich.
The identity of the 15-year-old has not been revealed due to his age. The school's principal reported a shooting on campus just before 11 a.m. on Thursday. It was initially reported that three teens, who were not students at LeFlore High, had entered the school grounds and approached two students before one of them started shooting.

"Any shooting is bad - but when you walk on a campus and you point a gun and shoot at a student, endangering all of the students that were out there .. . we take that very, very seriously and that's the reason why it's an attempted murder charge," said Rich.
Investigators are still trying to figure out if a third person should be charged in relation to the incident. Thankfully, no one was injured in the shooting, although a car in the parking lot was hit by a bullet. About 30 students nearby had to run for safety.
According to Mobile police spokesman Cpl. Christopher Levy, the five teenagers involved in the incident all knew each other and the shooting was the result of an ongoing dispute.

A spokesperson for Mobile County public schools told the Press-Register that Williams, a student at Davidson High School, is facing serious charges. He's been charged with two counts of attempted murder, possessing a gun on school property with intent to commit bodily harm, and shooting into an unoccupied vehicle.

Attempted murder can lead to life in prison, while the gun possession and shooting charges could result in up to 10 years behind bars. It's unclear what the outcome of that case was as the records are sealed.
A likely explanation is that he was granted youthful offender status, which carries a maximum punishment of three years in jail, as Williams was in the headlines again two years ago after being killed in a shootout with another 24-year-old.
