Walk down most streets in the UK these days and you'll almost certainly spot a Ring doorbell. The video devices have boomed in popularity over recent years thanks to their relatively low price point and the fact that they add constant surveillance to your front door.

And the great news is anyone wanting to pick up one really cheaply can grab a device for less than £30. It's thanks to a lesser-known section on Amazon that allows shoppers to make big savings.

The retailer has a 'Certified Refurbished' set of products, which are second-hand products that have been inspected and upgraded to ensure they're as good as new.

Explaining the process, Amazon said: "Each pre-owned device goes through a full diagnostic test, thorough cleaning and inspection, secure data wipe, and replacement of any defective parts identified in testing (where applicable)." The brilliant news is it means shoppers can pick up the same devices as the new versions at a much lower price.

And even better, some of the refurbished Ring products have seen their prices cut even further in a "limited time" deal. The standout product is the Certified Refurbished Ring Video Doorbell Wired, which is £29.69, down from the RRP of £53.99. A brand new version of the same device costs £59 at Argos.

The doorbell's key features include a security camera with 1080p HD video, two-way talk, plus advanced motion detection. You can choose to receive instant notifications when anyone presses your doorbell or triggers the motion sensors, or if you're busy, use the quick replies feature to respond with a pre-selected message.

It also boasts high-definition night vision with sharp contrast so you never miss a detail, even after dark. It is worth noting that this is the wired version of the Ring doorbell, so it does require a more complex installation than another version that is battery-powered, although at £99.99 on Amazon that's quite a bit dearer at the minute.

There are also other doorbells out there that are worth considering. Mirror Choice's Gareth Butterfield is a big fan of home tech gadgets and has tested out several video doorbells. He said the Eufy Video Doorbell S330 is the best he's tried.

Speaking about why he's a fan, Gareth said: "Chiefly, it's the genius twin-camera setup. A main camera gives a really clear field of view, but a second camera points downwards, at the area of doorstep your packages get dropped in, and this gives a massive amalgamated view of your entire porch area. It's so clever.

"What's more, the package detection monitor kicks in as soon as the parcel is left, and it tracks its every move. So if I'm away and my doorbell goes, if the courier has left it on the step I know about it and I can let the camera keep track of it.

"If someone comes near it, or if it moves, I instantly get a notification. And then I can text my burley neighbour and ask him to see off the baddie that's nicking my new shoes."

It's got 28% off on Amazon making it £129, down from £179. Google also does a video doorbell, which is £179.99 on Argos, or marginally cheaper at Toolstation, where it's £179.
