Vanessa Feltz celebrates 'progress' with milestone after split from Ben Ofoedu

Vanessa Feltz has revealed she has spent her first night at home alone since breaking up with fiancé Ben Ofoedu a year ago.

The 61-year-old broadcaster was left heartbroken at the beginning of last year when she discovered her 51-year-old fiancé had cheated on her and had been messaging other women behind her back. The couple broke up - bringing to an end a once rock-solid romance that had lasted for sixteen years.

Vanessa has admitted she has struggled with her new status as a single woman - and has even discussed the fact that she was so heartbroken she couldn’t even bring herself to eat, leading to a dramatic two-stone weight loss. Now the star has explained that she was left afraid of being alone after her relationship broke down.

In an effort to distract herself from the painful split - and her quiet home - the star says she went out every single night. But now she finally has the confidence to spend an evening at home alone.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Vanessa shared a message with fans to let them know she was taking a step forward. She declared: "You know I've said dozens of times that I don't like being on my own and I don't like being single. I haven't stayed in a single night since January 2023, not one single night. I've been out every day because I just haven't felt nice sitting at home on my own. I haven't felt relaxed enough to do it.

"Well guess what? Tonight's the night - oh yes! I'm going to do supper, I'm going to eat it. I'm going to have a lovely warm bubble bath and then I'm going to watch some blinking TV and I'm going to enjoy it." Sounding upbeat, Vanessa continued: "That is progress. It's taken me a hell of a lot of time to get here, an awfully long time. It's been over 390 nights out in total or something ridiculous.

"Tonight though is the first exception and that must mean I'm a lot more chilled so thank goodness for that. Everybody's been so g***** nice and so bloody supportive in the last year. I really can't thank you enough - it's meant the world, it really has."

She added: "So TV, supper, a bath - and do you know what, that sounds like quite a good prospect to me." Rounding off her update she had one last message for fans and followers, declaring: "Lots of love."

In February last year, Ben admitted he had cheated on Vanessa three times with an older woman that he had met in Ibiza. He confessed to the Daily Mail: “I will always love Vanessa she is the Queen of my heart she was my everything. But I have been incredibly foolish and stupid. I just have to hold my hands up and be honest. I have every regret - where do you want me to start!”

He added: “It has been a lot. It is about my behaviour, I have to look at myself. I have been doing a lot of soul-searching over the past three weeks. I'm not here to point fingers I am here to say it's me and I need to work on myself.”
