Kyle Walker's tell-all interview hasn't actually gone down the way the footballer perhaps intended.

The Manchester City ace, 33, has been branded an idiot by football fans following his bombshell confessions, with many blasting the soon-to-be dad-of-six regarding who he decided to share his side of the story with.

Other critics have taken to social media to slam the England international for seemingly only acknowledging three of his five children with any emotion during the interview, thanks to Kyle sharing his heartache over moving out of his family home and live apart from the children he shares with his estranged wife Annie Kilner.

In the video interview, Kyle shared the pain he feels of being unable to kiss his children goodnight, as a result of his separation from Annie. The Yorkshire born footballer has three kids with Annie and another baby due later this year.

But following an affair with reality TV star Lauryn Goodman, Kyle is also father to two more children - with Instagram model Lauryn giving birth to the sports star's youngest child in August last year.

Annie is believed to have finally ended her marriage over Christmas after finding out her husband had welcomed a second baby with Lauryn, with Kyle now living in rented accommodation after moving out of the £2.5million house in Cheshire that pregnant Annie and kids Riaan, Roman and Reign remain in.

In his controversial interview, Kyle got teary talking about no longer living with his wife and kids. "My little boy goes to sleep with me every night and to not have him . . . I'm used to being away for long periods of time with England," he said to The Sun. "We say goodnight on FaceTime. But to know that I'm not with him because of my mistake - mistake is probably the wrong word, my choices - that's what pains me."

But Kyle's sob story hasn't gone down well with football fans, with many questioning why the professional footballer would give his only interview regarding his personal life to The Sun. "Kyle Walker making his grovelling apology to the S*n. That's him in a nutshell the f***ing squeaky speaking creep," one wrote on Twitter (X) on Monday morning as they shared a clip of Kyle's chat with the tabloid publication.

"Kyle Walker, you pathetic excuse of a man. If it isn’t the consequences of your own actions.. Tripped and fell into a woman twice did you? Going to the Sun to tell your sob story of all places," another fumed online, with a third adding: "The ultimate cherry on the cake of public self shaming for Kyle Walker is telling all to The Sun."

The Sun and other Rupert Murdoch owned press outlets are boycotted by many football fans, with the newspaper unavailable to buy in Liverpool and other parts of Merseyside following its coverage of the 1989 Hillsborough disaster. On 19 April 1989, four days after the incident that saw 97 Liverpool F.C supporters crushed to death at a football ground, The Sun published a front-page story with the headline "The Truth" containing a number of falsehoods alleging that Liverpool supporters were responsible for the accident.

The Sun issued an apology in 2012 under the headline "The Real Truth", and in 2016, on a page 8–9 story in the aftermath of a second governmental inquest that concluded fans were unlawfully killed in the disaster. Journalists from the paper are denied interview privileges at both Liverpool and Everton F.C and it's estimated the boycott has cost The Sun's owners £15 million per month since 1989.

In addition to criticising Kyle for speaking to The Sun, football fans have also slammed the under-fire sports star for seemingly "trying to play the victim" after being caught having another extra-marital affair. "I’m not sharing that Kyle Walker story but are we supposed to be feeling sorry for him," one wrote on Twitter (X) on Monday, "Footballers cheat every single day that is nothing groundbreaking, but to bring children into that mess & conceive not one but TWO children in an affair is WILD.

"Kyle Walker trying to play the victim after cheating on the mother of his kids," another noted, with one Manchester City fan saying of their captain's messy personal life: "I don't think I've ever seen the @ManCity fanbase in such unison as I have over the point that Kyle Walker is a f**king seedy dickhead who needs the captaincy taken off him ASAP."

On January 10th, Kyle's estranged wife Annie shared the news of their split on Instagram saying: "I am posting this in response to growing recent media enquiries about my marriage to Kyle and in an effort to protect my family against the intensity of the media spotlight. Sadly, after many years of marriage and three wonderful children together; I have decided to take some time away from Kyle."

Kyle, who met Annie in Sheffield when he was 17 and she was just 15, went on to apologise to his pregnant wife publicly on Instagram two days on from her announcement. He said to his fans on Instagram: "Annie is an amazing woman and I can only apologise for the upset I've caused her. She's been part of my life for so long and that will never change for the sake of our children. I would ask for privacy for all of our family, and especially our young children, whilst we work through these difficult times."
