Dancing On Ice star Adele Roberts has been praised by fans for seemingly bouncing back on the ITV show following the tragic death of her mother.

The former BBC Radio host, 44, had announced during last week's performance that her mother had passed away, which in turn explained why she was so emotional. Taking to the ice on the popular skating show, Adele mesmerised both judges and viewers in Movie week dressed in an all black pleather outfit teamed with a bob length black wig - for the Matrix inspired choreography. After executing her performance with incredible style, she earned an impressive score which placed her joint second on the show's leader board.

Judge Ashley Banjo kicked off with a score of 7.5, followed by Oti Mabuse scoring her 7.5. Jayne Torvill gave Adele a seven, while Christopher Dean also gave a seven. And this brought her total to total to 29 out of 40. On the back of her impressive performance, fans took to Twitter to express their opinions over how well Adele had done considering her personal turmoil.

One person wrote: "OMG Adele is amazing on the ice, just a natural." Another said: "Adele is INCREDIBLE." Meanwhile another fan penned: "LOVE LOVE LOVE Adele! She is amazing! So proud of her a true inspiration." And a fourth added: "Adele is our main hope to break the male winning streak come on."

Last week, Adele shared with fans that her debut performance was a tribute to her late mother, who passed away on January 4. Alongside a series of heartwarming pictures, she captioned her post: "I didn’t want to say anything until I’d managed to get through our routine tonight. So apologies if it seemed I was overly emotional. My heart is broken and I miss my mum so much."

She added: "Saying goodbye to her this week was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. My mum got to see the start of our routine… and tonight I wanted to finish it in her honour." And she also chose to honour her family as she thanked them saying: "Thank you for keeping my head up and for giving me the strength to carry on. Thank you also to all the amazing people who came to help us say goodbye to her this week. You brought us so much comfort standing by our side."

She continued: "Thank you to the whole incredible Dancing On Ice team for guiding me through one of the toughest weeks of my life. I know how much you wanted to help me do my mum proud and I know it would have been playing on your mind all night. You are incredible.Thank you for teaching me to dance, to skate and joy of expressing emotion through my body. Your sport is so beautiful. I still can’t believe tonight happened."
