A mum has come under fire for plating up an "unhealthy" dinner for her toddler - as other mums slam the meal.

Trying to get children to eat different foods can be no mean feat, especially when they have their favourite snacks already, but one mum didn't want to put up a fight and plated up some of her tot's favourite snacks for lunch including crisps and chicken nuggets.

Alexandra, who calls herself a "cool mum" proudly plated up the lunch she'd made, but was quickly shamed for the meal, as it wasn't at all nutritious in a now-viral video.

The mum-of-three wrote over the video: "Plate my 1 year olds lunch with me" as she chopped up some chicken nuggets into small pieces alongside a fruit pouch yoghurt smoothie and some orange Cheetos. She then placed a Capri-Sun next to the plate and gave it a thumbs up.

Alexandra, who goes by the name @alexbabii97 gave her tot the lunch on the sofa, which she said "needed steam-cleaning" as she pointed out all of the food and stains on it, but her child happily ate away. Although her child may have enjoyed the meal her mum had made, others have slammed the lunch, with many shaming her for the unhealthy meal and begging her to stop.

The video, which has racked up five million views and over 10,000 comments saw Alexandra hit with a wave of negative comments from mum-shamers over what she had cooked, mostly over the Cheetos. "Omg I thought those were carrots.. but Cheetos??!" One horrified TikToker wrote, while another added: "Cheetos??? omg they deserve banana or avocado."

One mum suggested a way around trying to cook for a fussy eater and said: "I would say to keep offering fruits and veggies even if she doesn't eat it! That's what I do for my kids and eventually they eat them," and a second wrote: "I stopped buying juice and implementing water. At first it was a struggle. But the more I gave them water my kids would drink."

However, one mum chimed in with her thoughts, as she admitted her kids also loved chicken nuggets. She said: "You could do like the Yoplait yogurts tubes with some fruits and cheerios I made my toddlers that they loved it. it was a homemade parfait really... but on a real note my kids eat nuggets like crazy."
