A Place in The Sun star Laura Hamilton candidly revealed that she and co-star Jonnie Irwin haven't been in touch in recent weeks as he lives with terminal cancer.

The TV presenter and property guru confessed the pair haven't been messaging each other as regularly as they used to, and believes it's because her close pal is spending as much time as possible with his loved ones. He was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 2020 and was told by doctors that he likely only had six months to live. He went public with his diagnosis in November 2022.

Laura told The Daily Star: "I haven't spoken to him recently but I know he's enjoying time with his family. It looks like he's doing really well." She went on to add "So it's kind of spending as much time with his family as he can."

The father-of-three has been vocal about his cancer journey on social media and shares the highs and lows in his daily life now that he's living with cancer. Earlier this week, the presenter revealed that he was back in hospital and heading for an MRI scan.

He said: "This is look of a man who’s not slept for 6 nights and awaiting a full body MRI scan of at least an hour. If you haven’t had one they’re claustrophobic and claustrophobic and omit loud random noises. Joy. Take note on attempt of a jaunty not on my gown! I’m expecting to come out to news of India all out 195! #alwaystrying #mri #livingwithcancer #nhs."

Fans flocked to the comment section to wish him well. One person wrote: "Stay strong, Jonnie! I’m keeping you on a worldwide prayer list and keeping you in my prayers, too! Sending so much love!" Another fan added: "We’re thinking if you Jonnie. Hope the scan went well and we hope you sleep well tonight." A third person chimed in: "You are amazing, no-one should have to deal with these things, you are in my prayers xxx."

Jonnie is a doting dad to son Rex and twins Rafa and Cormac and shares his three small children with his wife Jess. The TV presenter admits he is continuing to live life to the fullest, although some days are more difficult than others, which he is open to sharing with his social media followers.

It comes after Jonnie explained earlier this month how he was still managing to stay positive. Speaking on the Conversations with Jane McLelland podcast, he explained: "One of the reasons I think I'm still here is I'm not a cancer patient. It's always there at the back of your mind, but I'm living with cancer, not dying with cancer." Jonnie then encouraged others not to focus too much on their prognosis, as he said: "If I just listened to the prognosis I'm perennially given, I'd be curled up in a ball and crying myself to death."
