'My husband is livid I'm going on a hen do when we've got a baby - it's unfair'

After being pregnant for nine months then going through the exhausting and painful labour of childbirth, most mums out there would probably love the sound of a weekend break away with friends.

But one mum has come under fire from her husband for suggesting she wants to attend her friend's hen do, as he's not so keen on staying behind with the kids for weekend, despite his recent trip away when his wife was pregnant.

The pair have two very young babies with the youngest being just four-months-old, and the dad has told her he does not think it's right that she goes away with them being so young.

Taking to Mumsnet, the mum explained that she is upset by her husband's comments and feels he is being hypocritical as when she was eight-months pregnant he felt it was the right time to go on a weekend away for a wedding abroad.

In the post, the woman, who remained anonymous, explained: "Before having my second child my friends began organising for our friends hen do which will take place four hours away from home and over a three- day period which I agreed to.

"As it has gotten closer my husband has become anxious about being left with the kids and is now saying he will look after them but believes at four-months-old for the youngest I shouldn’t be going as they are too young to be away from for this amount of time."

The mum went onto explain that her husband attended a wedding abroad when she was heavily pregnant so feels it is fair of her to go to this hen do which will only be a few days.

She said: "I would love to go spend time with friends and relax a little but now I feel maybe they are too young and I am being selfish leaving them for three days."

In response , many other parents commented that they would not leave their young babies for that amount of time but it is not fair of the dad to guilt trip her about it.

One person wrote: "Absolutely go! It's just your husband not wanting to do his fair share of the work!"

While another stated: "I wouldn't personally leave a four- month old for a three-day weekend, but if I did make that decision I wouldn't expect their father to be guilt tripping me about it. Especially one who thinks it's fine for men."
