Heartbreaking last picture of girl, 5, killed after 'drunk' woman hit family car
The devastated family of a five-year-old girl killed after her family's car was hit by an alleged drink-driver have released a final heartbreaking picture of her.
Lennyn Lilic has reportedly been taken off life support after the horror smash that happened on South Westsam's Boulevard in Kearns last Sunday. Semir Lilic, 32, had been traveling with his two children, Lennyn and son, 6, when his Volkswagen was hit by another vehicle which cops say was speeding.
The family was taken to different hospitals and Lennyn was reported to have suffered severe head wounds, along with skull fractures, a broken spine, broken neck and brain bleeds. Tragically, after days of treatment her life support was said to have been removed and she died from her injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle 25-year-old Charmayne Huerta-Guzman has been reportedly charged in connection with second-degree felony manslaughter along with other charges according to court documents.
Speaking to told ABC4 on Monday dad Semir said: "If it was two seconds, maybe I could have done something different. But [Huerta-Guzman] came so fast, I couldn't do nothing for my children and me. Maybe if I did something different that day. Tied my son's shoe two seconds more or my car 10 seconds or something. But nothing went different. Just end up being in the wrong spot at the wrong time."
Baby boy has spent his life in hospital as doctors are 'scared' to discharge himAccording to reports officers asked Huerta-Guzman what she had been doing before the crash and responded 'we were drinking and heading home.' At the hospital, a preliminary blood test was said to have shown her blood alcohol content was at 0.24. She is being held without bail and will next appear in court on February 6.
Officials told FOX 13 News that the charges will likely be enhanced following the death of the young girl and police will meet with the District Attorney's office to determine any new charges. The outlet reports that when responding to the crash, officers asked Guzman how much she had to drink to which she replied, "too much."
A fundraising page has since been launched by family members which has so far raised tens of thousands in support of the girl's funeral. On the page organisers wrote: "On Sunday, January 14th. Semir, Emel and Lennyn were involved in a very serious car accident. They were hit straight on by a very large sized SUV. The driver of the SUV was under the influence of Alcohol and was in an exceeding speed of 85+ MPH when the impact took place.
"This is a very tragic and serious impact on the whole family. Your donation, no matter the amount, will make a significant impact on the Lilic Family!! Please everyone, if you plan on drinking Alcohol. Spend the $30 and get a uber ride home instead of causing a tragic, heartbreaking incident to someone's family."
