Joe Sugg "made history" on The Chase with host Bradley Walsh that they would "go viral" because of the achievement on the latest episode.

The content creator, 32 - who reached the final of Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 - was a contestant on a celebrity edition of the ITV quiz show on Saturday. He was joined by Myles Stephenson, David James and Lucrezia Millarini.

The quartet were hoping to raise money for their chosen charities on the show. They were tasked with taking on Paul Sinha, who is known as the Sinnerman, and they needed to first get through their individual head-to-head rounds against him before being able to compete in the final round.

Joe managed to get £8,000 in his cash builder round. Ahead of going head-to-head against the Chaser, he was given his alternative offers for the upcoming round, in case he didn't want to go for the amount that he'd banked.

The low offer was £1,000 and the high offer was £201,000. Joe teased about the higher amount: "If I go for the [the high offer] it could make a viral moment, which is a good thing. [...] It'd be an incredible amount for charity as well."

He ended up going for the high offer. Joe got a number of questions correct in the round and it was soon teased that if he were to go through, he'd make history - seemingly due to taking through the highest amount on the show.

The round concluded with a question about hedgehogs, which read: "Which of a hedgehog's senses is very poor?" The options for the answer were "sight," "hearing" and "smell". Joe suspected that the first option was correct.

Ahead of revealing the answer, Bradley told the contestant: "I wish you luck." He continued: "You're gonna make history here, mate. If you go though you're making history." The host added: "We're gonna go viral. I better stand next to you if you’re gonna go through! Come on, good luck."

It was subsequently revealed that the correct answer was the first option, which meant that Joe was right. He was seen jumping up and celebrating once it was announced, whilst the audience cheered over the situation. Joe was soon seen hugging Bradley, who said: "Absolutely brilliant!"

The final round saw Joe compete alongside singer Myles, 32, and former footballer David, 53. They weren't joined by newsreader Lucrezia, 47, as she had been eliminated earlier in the episode. The prize fund stood at £213,000 in the final round, with Joe having contributed the majority of it.

The trio managed to get 18 questions correct but were subsequently caught by the Chaser, who had just under 30 seconds left on his timer. It meant that the celebrity contestants lost the prize fund. They however were told that they would still get £1,000 for their charities.
