Prince Harry and Meghan Markle divided onlookers once again with their decision to fly to Jamaica for the premiere of the latest Bob Marley film.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were slammed by some for their "insensitive" trip after they opted to watch the Bob Marley: One Love, instead of flying to the UK to visit the Royal Family when both Princess Kate and King Charles were hospitalised. However, it's now been explained exactly why they made the decision to head to Jamaica instead of back home to Blighty.

Amid the criticism of the journey, an insider close to the pair has tried to defend their actions. It's said the couple had been personally invited to attend the premiere of the new flick by Paramount boss Brian Robbins.

According to Mail Online, the Sussexes have been close to the Paramount boss and are pals in LA. They also claimed Harry and Meghan have long been fans of Bob Marley's music and message" and "have a personal friendship with the Robbins family, who invited them".

The invitation is said to have delighted the couple who were filmed in Kingston on Tuesday. Images showed the trio together and smiling for the cameras.

The outing came shortly after it was revealed both King Charles and the Princess of Wales were seeking hospital treatment. Princess Kate was in hospital while recovering from abdominal surgery, while the monarch required treatment for an enlarged prostate. In some circles, Harry and Meghan's decision to put the premiere before family showed disrespect to the Royal Family.

Despite their decision to attend, some social media users thought Harry appeared to be downcast at the event. While the couple posed looking cheerful and holding hands when the cameras were on them, a video uploaded to social media seemingly showed the prince looking a little sombre.

In the clip and subsequent screen grabs, which have been published by MailOnline, Harry can be seen looking downcast as he heads towards his seat, while Meghan leads the way. Meghan smiled, although appeared hesitant too. Fans said they were convinced his look of unhappiness came due to the pair's seating arrangement for the screening.
