Incest monster Josef Fritzl has reportedly bizarrely claimed he is a good father - despite imprisoning his daughter Elisabeth inside his 'horror house' for 24 years.

The sex fiend, 88, allegedly made the baffling remark in a letter for the parole board in which he also apologised for his crimes. Fritzl is eligible for parole after serving 15 years of a life term and is trying to prove he is reformed.

But the Mirror told last week how the paedophile talks to the TV in his cell and believes he is a pop star. Now, it has reportedly emerged he wrote: "I was actually a good father" in the note. He added: "I specifically saved money to help with children’s education.

"I visited the children often, and helped them whenever they were given chores to do. I helped them and encouraged them to play musical instruments and so forth. I know with one of my daughters I made a mistake, and I regret that. But apart from that, I believe that I was actually a good father."

Fritzl had seven children with his daughter after repeatedly raping her while keeping her captive in his cellar for 24 years in Amstetten, Austria. Yet, with his potential release from jail looming, the sex fiend added: "I’m not dangerous anymore. I’m the opposite.

“I don’t have any sexual desires for women, nothing like that at all. I have to say that in a strange way I am probably more free in prison than I ever was in the outside world, because, after all, I led a double life for ten years. I’ve given all of that up now, and so with this I have been able to give up all of this pressure. I don’t have to pretend anymore and carry the weight of this hiding and pretending and secrets."

Fritzl was told in a court in Krems, Austria, he is allowed to move to a softer jail until the parole board decide his fate. He could be out of prison altogether within a year despite being jailed for life in 2009. He was convicted of murder by negligence, enslavement, rape, deprivation of liberty, coercion and incest, The Sun reports.

His dungeon home in Amstetten, in the northeast of Austria, has since been converted to flats, with Fritzl dismissive of their new pink shade. In another moan, the paedophile complained he had been bullied in jail and struggling greatly with his "loss of freedom".
