Stunning new smartphone could convince UK Android fans foldables are the future
Foldable Android phones aren't anything new with Samsung first revealing the concept all the way back in 2019. However, despite being massively impressive these flexible smartphones haven't exactly been easy to handle with most creating a massive bulge in your pocket.
If the sheer size of switching to a foldable has been putting you off, maybe this latest device from HONOR could convince you. It's called the Magic V2 and is officially the world's thinnest foldable.
This wafer-thin call maker was actually revealed late last year but HONOR has just announced a European and UK release during an event at the Porsche Experience Center in Leipzig, Germany.

Once snapped shut it measures in at just 9.9mm thin - that's compared to Samsung's Z Fold5 which is 13.4mm thick. Pop it on the scales and it also weighs just 231g which is around 20g lighter than its Galaxy rival.
Despite that very delicate design, HONOR is promising that the Magic V2 is made of tough stuff with it featuring a first-of-its-kind Super-light Titanium Hinge. This, the firm says, allows it to withstand 400,000 folds without any issues - that should easily be enough to last the lifetime of the device.

There's a standard 6.43-inch screen on the front that opens up to reveal a massive 7.92-inch OLED tablet-style display.
Thanks to clever software tricks, this can then be used to multitask just like a PC or laptop with numerous apps and windows open at the same time. To help you look at the screen for longer, the HONOR Magic V2 also supports 3840Hz PWM Dimming technology that minimises eye strain.
On the rear case is a 50MP main camera along with a 50MP ultra-Wide lens and a 20MP telephoto camera.
That snapper should offer plenty of options for those wanting Instagram-ready images during the day and night.
Head under its skinny shell and a 5,000mAh battery should keep the screen glowing all day and when things do run dry it can be filled at a rapid rate thanks to HONOR's 66W Wired SuperCharge technology.
HONOR Magic V2 (HONOR)If any of that has got you excited then the HONOR Magic V2 will be available starting from the 26th of January in Purple and Black for £1,699.99.
As a comparison, the Galaxy ZFold5 costs £1,800 so HONOR's device is a little cheaper to own.
Along with the standard model, HONOR has also shown off an exclusive version of the V2 that's been created with Porsche.
The aptly named PORSCHE DESIGN HONOR Magic V2 RSR features a different design that the firms say has been inspired by motorsports.

The flyline of this smartphone is intricately reminiscent of the hood of a Porsche 911 plus its improved grip provides a "sportscar experience" in the user’s palm.
