Fans of the acclaimed British TV show, Benidorm, might be in for a treat as cast member Sherrie Hewson hinted at a possible return of the popular series.

The ITV show, which aired from 2007, chronicled the lives and holidays of Brits at the fictional Solana Resort in the Spanish town of Benidorm. The hit TV sitcom delighted fans with its cheerful humour, larger-than-life characters, and hilarious holiday antics, gaining rave reviews and a loyal following but after ten seasons, the final episode aired on May 2, 2018 and fans have been longing for a comeback ever since.

Over five years on from it's final episode, actress Sherrie Hewson, known for her role as Joyce Temple-Savage, has now sparked hope among fans about the show's possible comeback. In response to an online query: "Will there be another series of Benidorm, Joyce?" she wrote back: "Never say never."

Optimistic fans eagerly clutched at the hint as some pointed out that creator Derren Litten has reportedly resumed his writing. Derren, having taken a break to explore radio DJing, announced that he is returning to television and theatre writing recently. The TV writer said: "It's been a difficult decision but I've decided to return back to writing for both television and theatre.

"I have had clear, recent indications that certain TV channels are interested in my decision and I hope you will be watching the fruits of my labour in time to come. Obviously there are always rumours surrounding such announcements but I would like to make it clear my decision to come out of retirement is purely to spend less time with my family."

Upon getting wind that Benidorm could potentially be making a comeback, avid fans of the TV show flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their excitement as one gushed: "Omg if Benidorm actually has another series I think I'll die happy. This is all I need in 2024 to be happy."

"Rumours that Benidorm is coming back is making my heart so happy," another echoed. "Another series of BENIDORM ???? Please lets manifest that this is real," someone else enthused. While another fan of the ITV show quipped: "yessssss Benidorm is the best thing to happen and if there's another series it would be better than England winning the world cup."
