On his show this week, Piers Morgan explained that Donald Trump had finally called again - for the first time since their disastrous 2022 interview - and revealed that the Republican frontrunner has a 'chilling confidence.'

During an interview with Trump's daughter-in-law Lara, Morgan revealed that: "We hadn't spoken since our rather contentious interview we did, actually launching this show a while ago. We had a very nice chat and I've got to say he was exuding chilling confidence about what is happening."

"He really just believes he is going to win," added Morgan. Just last week, Piers Morgan confessed he was wrong about Trump last year and now likens him to Frank Sinatra. Morgan took to his TalkTV show to discuss the then-recent Iowa caucus results where Donald Trump surged ahead of his competitors, forcing out Vivek Ramaswamy and, subsequently, Ron DeSantis.

He said: "A year ago [Trump] was completely written off, not least by people like me! He helmed the Republicans into a disastrous midterm. He was facing a mountain of legal action. He's been a serial loser."

Then he added: "Many think he's a serial liar and dangerous, but he had the biggest win in Iowa caucus history last night, the comeback king is on the march," Morgan declared.

The controversial host further stated: "Donald Trump didn't just win, he obliterated his rivals on every record, number one across nearly every county...and across pretty much every demographic. Trump's recent win appears to have boosted his confidence, as Trump immediately took to TruthSocial to write a number of comments about Nikki Haley and Joe Biden, before calling Morgan to brag - much to the talk show host's delight.

Donald Trump's daughter-in-law and senior campaign advisor Lara Trump said Donald was feeling "confident" about winning back the Presidency. She said: "He is in it to win it, we've had a couple of great primaries... we are going to go on now and head to November 5th"

In a previous interview, which ended with Donald Trump storming out, the two TV figures trading insults and criticisms. Trump called Morgan dishonest and a "fool" before refusing to take part, calling an end to the interview and shouting "turn the camera off."

Former pals Trump and Morgan clashed in the chat as the former president was grilled over the US presidential election. The English broadcaster reiterated to Trump that he lost in 2020 and that it was a "free and fair election," causing Trump to lose his temper. "Only a fool would think that," Trump answered. "You think I'm a fool?" Morgan responded. "I do now, yeah," Trump said. Eventually Trump walked out of the interview.

But this isn't the first time these two have fought - or made up. In 2020, their friendship started crumbling when Piers slammed the US President for his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. At one point, Piers wrote: "President Trump's bats*** crazy coronavirus 'cure' theories are not just shockingly senseless and stupid they're going to kill people."

In what is now considered a major sign of a falling out, Trump swiftly unfollowed Piers on Twitter, seemingly marking an end to their friendship. After Trump tested positive for coronavirus Piers claimed he was "an anti-role model," "tone-deaf," and a "super spreader." He also branded the president "reckless" for getting into a car with his security entourage and putting their "lives at risk."

Trump retaliated, calling Piers Morgan "disloyal" and referring to him as the "fake news media." A year later though, the two "made-up" after Donald Trump picked up the phone and called the interviewer - who was criticized for giving Trump "an easy time" on his show - reestablishing their friendship.
