Liam Gallagher has lashed out at Dua Lipa to bitterly brand her ‘jealous’ after she seemed to deem him ‘obnoxious’.

The unexpected spat was ignited when pop star Dua, 28, sat down for a chat with Rolling Stone magazine to discuss her upcoming new album - which she revealed has been influenced by a range of bands including Oasis, Blur, Gorillaz and the electronic musician Moby. But during the interview, Dua was asked about the fact that Brit-pop bands like Oasis and Blur have been derogatory about female artists in the past.

This prompted Dua to acknowledge that she could appreciate the music that the bands made, and even excuse the image they were projected as ‘their thing’. She explained: “Sometime you have to separate the art from the person… It’s more like the music element, the aspect of it that I’m really connected to. The way that [some Brit-pop artists] acted, the things that they’ve done, they’re obnoxious for sure. That’s their whole thing.”

Word got back to 51-year-old Oasis star Liam, however, and he launched a blistering attack on Dua as he offloaded on fans online. One social media user addressed the Oasis star on X and asked: “LG, Dua Lipa said that bands like Oasis and Blur’s behaviour are “obnoxious”. What do you think about that?”

Liam replied bluntly: “She’s just jealous.” However, this sparked a wave of defence from the Levitating singer’s fans - with one arguing: “Come off it, Dua Lipa's one of the biggest pop stars on the planet - she's not jealous of you and she has a fair point Liam. You and Noel were utterly obnoxious in the '90s and '00s, and many other men in Britpop bands were misogynistic p***ks.”

But Liam only doubled down, and barked: “She’s jealous we can swear and tell people to f**k off and she can’t.” This, in turn, provoked a flood of further messages from Dua’s fans who lined up to defend her.

Liam’s fans were consequently concerned for the Oasis legend as he found himself on the receiving end of an avalanche of abuse from Dua’s fans. On Wednesday, one follower asked: "Liam, how are u feeling today after your tweet storm yesterday?" And the star admitted he was: "Exhausted".

In her Rolling Stones interview, Dua admitted she had never met Liam or Blur frontman Damon Albarn, saying: “I haven’t had any encounters with them, actually.” She also blamed fans for encouraging the older singers to share toxic views.

She said: “There’s so much toxicity in the way people wanted their artists or their musicians… If they weren’t like that, they would’ve been seen as boring, and I think that’s such a bad way to see things.”

In the past Liam has slammed Miley Cyrus, branding her “awful”, while 55-year-old Damon sparked furore when he appeared to accuse Taylor Swift of failing to write her own lyrics. But when the 34-year-old Lavender Haze star clapped back at Damon and rejected him after being a life-long fan, he offered a grovelling apology and argued his words had been taken “out of context”.
