Michael Schumacher's brother's ex kicked off I'm A Celeb over health leak fears
The ex-wife of Michael Schumacher's brother has left the German version of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here amid fears she would blab about the stricken Formula 1 legend's health battle.
Schumacher has spent the last decade recovering from a skiing accident suffered in December 2013 which left him with life-changing injuries. To this day, he receives round-the-clock care from his loving wife Corinna and a team of medical staff.
Updates have been scarce and those who are trusted with details of his condition are sworn to secrecy. So, naturally, tongues were set wagging in Germany when his brother Ralf's ex-wife Cora entered the jungle on the European country's version of I'm a Celeb.
The 47-year-old lasted for just a few days, though, before she left camp. According to BILD, she was removed from the show by broadcaster RTL with bosses fearful she may say too much about her former brother-in-law's health.
RTL is said to have a 'gentleman's agreement' with the Schumacher family not to go digging into the former racer's condition. Allowing a family member to speak about his condition on national television would go against that accord.
Sue Cleaver feels 'more empowered' as she labels her 50s her 'happiest decade'Cora is said to have been too talkative on the show, which made producers nervous. While it would be possible to edit out any details before the broadcast of regular episodes, it was the fear she might say something on a live show that seems to have sparked action.
She apparently had the blessing of the family to appear on the programme. Ex-husband Ralf, himself a former F1 racer, even spoke to BILD about their relationship and congratulated her on joining the cast.
"I think that she wants to find her own topic with the jungle camp and won't, for example, take up our shared past. After all, it was all a long time ago," the 48-year-old said.
A statement on social media claimed Cora's exit was triggered by illness. "Cora suffers from a severe cough and decides that she no longer feels healthily fit for the jungle adventure. We wish her all the best!" the post read.
She said on the show, referring to the smoke coming from the campfire: "I want to go home. I cannot stand this anymore. I can't do this anymore with the smoke, everything is burning. I can not anymore. I want to get out of here now. Now, now, now!"
