Ricky Hatton has been trying to keep up his moves after being the first celebrity booted off Dancing On Ice.

The former professional boxer decided to have a go at roller skating after he was voted out of the ice skating competition on Sunday. He failed to impress the judges in the skate-off with Lou Saunders and Brendyn Hatfield, meaning he was given an early exit from the show. Ricky admitted he was "gutted" to be leaving and praised his pro skater Robin Johnstone for her hard work.

However, Ricky appeared to be drowning his sorrows as he headed to his local pub on Monday night. He donned a pair of roller skates as he ordered a pint at the bar. Ricky was cheered on by his mates as he attempted to skate back to his seat. Yet he picked up more speed than he was hoping for and ended up flying through a door and landing on his face.

Ricky posted the hilarious clip on his Instagram account as he wrote: "Good to be back home after dancing on ice. Few pints with the lads. Got skating fever i think. Just can’t get it out of my mind." Fans loved the clip as one said: "The people’s champ." Another joked: "And that’s before a few beers."

Someone else commented: "What a boy." Dancing On Ice pro Colin Grafton added: "You have him hooked @merobinorjane !!! Well done @rickyhitmanhatton." Upon leaving the ITV show, Ricky said he was pleased with how far he had come along on the show in just a week, after adding new features to his routine which the judges applauded.

He added: "I'm gutted to be going home yeah, I've tried to be a winner all my life in everything I've done. It's been a while since I saw the second round. I think I will carry on skating. I may be out in the first round but I had a great time, and I met some wonderful friends. I'd like to thank Robin for all her hard work and the coaches." He added that he'd be going home "happy".

Ricky found himself at risk of leaving the show after the very first episode. He competed against Amber Davies, Greg Rutherford, Hannah Spearritt, Roxy Shahidi and Ryan Thomas, but landed in the bottom spot. Speaking about being in the skate-off, Ricky said he wasn't surprised as he shared: "I should have never been here, but it's another week of practice. And we'll just practice and hopefully get another chance to make people smile again."

Ricky was the first celebrity to be confirmed for the new season of Dancing on Ice when the star-studded line-up was unveiled last year. "I just thought it was a new challenge for me. I've always liked a challenge," Ricky explained when revealing why he signed up for the ITV series. "I mean, I’m pretty fearless. I think you have to be being a boxer, don't you? I've never been shy of a challenge.

"It's well-documented a few years ago, I wasn't in a very good place. But since then everything's moving forward and positive in my life. I think a few years ago, I probably wouldn't have been in a position and I'd have said no. When it came forward this time, I jumped at the chance and I’m thoroughly enjoying it."
