Matt Hancock seemingly received 'special treatment' while being put through his paces on SAS: Who Dares Wins last year.

Special Forces DS Jason Fox has strongly implied Hancock "got some special treatment" when discussing one celebrity participant who "everyone knows is doing the show" recently.

The independent MP, 44, was paid £45,000 to take part in a celebrity version of the Channel 4 show, with the former health secretary's series set to air later this year.

Hancock filmed the show prior to abandoning his constituents in West Suffolk to enjoy a lucrative stint in the jungle - reportedly collecting a £400,000 pay cheque thanks to appearing on last year's series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

The disgraced politician - who collects £84,144 a year as a sitting MP - is yet to declare how much he was paid to appear on the ITV show and has previously claimed he will donate his fee to charity.

However, Hancock's team were unable to confirm how much of the MP's I'm a Celebrity fee will be donated to good causes when repeatedly asked by the Mirror at the end of November last year, and no statement has been issued confirming Hancock's charity donation.

Speaking on the Restless Natives podcast, ex-army star Jason, 46, revealed some cryptic details about the star "everyone knows who is doing the show" and poked fun at the celebrities who sign up for the Channel 4 series.

"There's a celebrity edition featuring the one and only former..." Gordon Smart began during their chat, before he was quickly stopped by Jason: "That's not been confirmed yet."

The two stars, alongside Line of Duty actor Martin Compston, then debated if the news Hancock is appearing on the show would have broken by the time the podcast episode aired - going on to joke about the disgraced former health secretary.

Gordon went on to ask Jason: "Have you ever felt more like water-boarding someone more on the show than someone on the next series of SAS Who Dares Wins?

"It must have been the closest you've been to going, 'Get him in there for the special treatment'."

Keeping Hancock's appearance unconfirmed, Jason replied: "Well, he got some special treatment - whoever we are talking about..."

In November last year it emerged Hancock was paid £45,000 to take part on the Channel 4 show, thanks to the reality TV fan declaring the payment in an update to the MPs' Register of Interests.

The entry also revealed he spent 80 hours filming the programme while parliament was in recess, between 24 September and 8 October.

A few weeks later, the shamed MP headed Down Under to take part in that year's series of ITV show I'm a Celebrity - reaching the final and finishing third behind Owen Warner and Queen of the Jungle Jill Scott.
