Firefighters are telling people to continue avoiding the area as they tackle the blaze, in their latest update.

Crews from Northumberland Fire & Rescue were using a second ladder due to the force of the fire that also required road closures.

The fire service tweeted: "We've a second aerial ladder platform on route to the fire on Woodhorn Road #Ashington. A road closure is also in place. Please avoid the area at this time. #StaySafe. #ThankYou."

• Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service sent five appliances and two aerial ladder platforms to the scene
• Police are also at the scene with Woodhorn Road closed to the public

A Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Fire crews are currently attending a fire at a property on Woodhorn Road #Ashington. Five appliances and two aerial ladder platforms are in attendance alongside other agencies. A road closure is also in place. Please avoid the area at this time."
