PGA Tour star Justin Rose has become the latest player to commit to a team on Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s The Golf League with the Englishman joining the Los Angeles Golf Club.

Ahead of the inaugural season of TGL, Rose joined Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala on the LAGC roster. Rose is one of the most prominent names in the sport, winning 11 titles on the PGA Tour as well as an Olympic gold medal at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro.

In 2018, Rose became World No. 1 in the World Golf Rankings for the first time in his career, while he has competed in the Ryder Cup for Team Europe on six occasions. There is now one more space remaining on the LAGC four-man roster, and Rose is excited to be involved in TGL.

“I am excited to become a part of Los Angeles Golf Club,” said Rose. “I was already looking forward to the TGL season and format, but after talking with the team and learning about their commitment to their fans and community, I am even more eager to be a part of Los Angeles Golf Club.”

Los Angeles Golf Club President Neal Hubman expressed enthusiasm about the announcement of Rose’s signing, stating: “We are beyond delighted to welcome Justin Rose to the Los Angeles Golf Club family. Justin's outstanding achievements and dedication to the sport perfectly align with our club's values.

“His presence will undoubtedly inspire our fans, elevate the competitive spirit, and contribute to the rich legacy of our local community.”

With three of the four players accounted for, LAGC will make their final roster spot announcement in the coming weeks. TGL has worked with teams, players, and player management to ensure the new league’s schedule will be as complementary as possible to the PGA Tour schedule.

Last summer, 15-time major champion Woods and McIlroy announced the plans for TGL, which was founded amid the divide between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour. A number of the PGA Tour’s biggest names have signed with TGL, featuring across six teams: as well as the two founders, Justin Thomas, Keegan Bradley, Matt Fitzpatrick, Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, Adam Scott, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa, Cam Young, Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, Rickie Fowler, Tom Kim, Billy Horschel along with Morikawa and Theegala.

The 24 players are set to be split across six teams: Atlanta Drive GC, Boston Common Golf, TGL New York, TGL San Francisco, Jupiter Links GC, and LAGC. TGL will take place indoors and will rely on a giant golf simulator.

In TGL, the winner of each hole will earn one point, and the team with the most points prevails. A match will include two sessions, with session one including a 'triples' nine-hole three vs three foursomes match, and session two compiling of a 'singles' one-on-one clash over six holes, with each player playing two holes.

If matches are then tied in regulation play, overtime is played with a penalty shootout-style challenge competed with a team required to hit two shots closer to the hole than their rivals to secure a win. Teams are issued two points for a win and no points for a loss in regular play. An overtime loss earns a team one point.

Following the end of the 15-week season, the league's top four teams will compete in the playoffs to win the 2023 title. The matches will be played at the state-of-the-art SoFi Center at Palm Beach State College, with shots being struck into a simulator screen.
