Adele Roberts' partner Kate Holderness has shared her pride following the former's Dancing on Ice (DOI) debut.

The radio host, 44, took to the ice for her first performance on the ITV skating competition show on Sunday. She was joined by her skating partner Mark Hanretty, 38, for the routine and they got the joint highest score of the evening.

It's since been announced that the routine was dedicated to Adele's late mother Jackie Roberts. Adele shared last night that Jackie had passed away, aged 61, earlier this month and that she hadn't wanted to share the news until after the routine.

Following the news, writer Kate took to Instagram to share how proud she was of Adele, who she's understood to have been in a relationship with since 2004. She posted a photo of Adele being lifted up by Mark in rehearsals for DOI.

Kate wrote in the caption: "LIFT OFF. I am so proud of you [Adele]. No words can describe it…this photo says it all. And [Mark] I've already told you a thousand times, you are the warmest man on ice. Watching you both last night was just breathtaking and seeing how you both helped each other through this past week…simply beautiful. I'm your proudest number 1 fan today! Just wow."

She had previously shared the photo on her Instagram Story last night. Kate wrote following the ice skating routine: "I'm speechless [Adele]. I couldn't be prouder of you & [Mark]. Thank you to everyone who supported tonight."

Adele and Mark received a score of 27.5 from the judges for their routine on DOI last night. It's the joint highest score of the series so far, with it matched only by former ski jumper Eddie the Eagle and his skating partner Vicky Ogden.

Following the routine, Adele took to Instagram to announce that it was dedicated to her late mother Jackie. She posted a photo of them together and a video that appeared to show Adele sharing rehearsal footage with Jackie.

Adele wrote in the accompanying caption on the platform: "Tonight's performance was dedicated to the memory of my beautiful Mum, Jackie Roberts. [...] I didn't want to say anything until I'd managed to get through our routine tonight. So apologies if it seemed I was overly emotional.

"My heart is broken and I miss my mum so much. Saying goodbye to her this week was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. My mum got to see the start of our routine… and tonight I wanted to finish it in her honour."

The radio presenter went on to express gratitude towards her family for giving her "the strength to carry on". Adele also thanked "the whole incredible [DOI] team" for guiding her through "one of the toughest weeks" of her life.

She added about Mark: "I know how much you wanted to help me do my mum proud and I know it would have been playing on your mind all night. You are incredible. Thank you for teaching me to dance, to skate and joy of expressing emotion through my body. Your sport is so beautiful."

Adele later thanked fans for their support and concluded with remarks about her mother. She wrote: "And to my biggest supporter from day one - my incredible mum. Goodnight my love. I shall think of you and miss you everyday of my life. Forever my hero. Until we meet again."
