Masked Singer UK's Julia says she had 'scary' blackout moments before sing off
The Masked Singer UK's Julia Sawalha has revealed she had a "scary" blackout just moments before her sing off.
The Absolutely Fabulous star, 55, was unveiled as Bubble Tea on Saturday night and reunited with guest judge Jennifer Saunders, who played her on-screen mum Edina Monsoon on Ab Fab. Speaking on Monday's Lorraine, Julia opened up about her time on the competition and a "scary" moment.
Explaining how she was helped by the show's costume dressers, Julia said: "I had a blackout just before I went to do my sing off, I just stood there and could hear Owl singing. I thought: 'I only know my name is Julia!' I could feel the security guards and I thought: 'I don't know what I'm doing!' It's the first time I've ever had stage fright.

I said: 'I know, I don't know what I'm singing' and she said: 'You're doing the sing off!' and I said: 'I don't know what the song is!'
"I just turned, slightly, it's all really dark backstage and I saw this iPad being flown down a fireman's line. I could just see the light of the iPad and I saw the first line [of the song], everything came back into my head but it was a complete blackout.

"Then I was being walked on because you have in-ears, you're virtually deaf, can't feel anything, can't smell anything, can't see anything, all your senses are taken away!" to which host, Lorraine Kelly, replied: "That's scary, isn't it!"
The Absolutely Fabulous star, 55, was unveiled as Bubble Tea on Saturday night (ITV)It comes as Julia, who is the sister of Loose Women's Nadia Sawalha, talked about why she joined the show on Saturday night, saying: "I wanted to do something that would really take me out of my comfort zone. I like to do jobs that actually I'm really terrified of because then they're a big challenge. This lived up to that!"
On the judges failing to guess her, she said: "The panel's guesses were just so hilarious. I couldn't believe they thought I was Hannah Waddingham. I thought Jennifer (Saunders) got pretty close with Bubble (the character from Absolutely Fabulous). I think they did fairly well!"
