Drag Race star Michelle Visage issues apology to kids after childhood regret
Drag Race UK star Michelle Visage said sorry to her children after revealing she spent a huge chunk of time away from them when they were younger.
Michelle, 55, is a much-loved judge on the hit BBC reality show, alongside popular British comedians and TV hosts Alan Carr, and Graham Norton. She rose to stardom as a member of the musical group Seduction - but being in the spotlight meant the 55-year-old doting mum wasn't always there for her two kids, who are now both in their 20s.
The TV star has two daughters, Lillie, 23, and Lola, 21, whom she shares with her husband David Case. Sharing her regret in a new interview, Michelle admitted she would like to say sorry to her children: "I spent the majority of their youth away from them as I’m the breadwinner and I had to pay the bills."
Michelle tragically revealed that her own mother had died before she had given birth to her daughters, meaning they never had a chance to meet their gran. She told The Guardian: "She passed away when I was 30. The fact that I’ve spent my adult life without her has been pretty crappy.
Earlier this year, Michelle admitted she lost more than three stone in one year after battling with perimenopause and while adapting to a lifestyle change. She dropped an impressive 45lbs by following a strict Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) diet, which is designed to reduce symptoms caused by autoimmune disorders, and taking up weightlifting.
Happy Valley's Clare's death 'confirmed' after tragic final exchange with sister"Menopause was a big wake-up for me. It shook me. I new nothing. I went into it not knowing a thing. It was the worst thing I experienced in my life" she confessed. "It's by far the worst thing I've experienced. I'm not a weak person and I was like 'I'm gonna give up soon if I don't get help'," Michelle said on her BBC Sounds podcast Rule Breakers. "Weightlifting has changed my life over the past year: I lost 45 pounds, that's three stone."
Michelle went on to add that she is 'incredibly proud of her body transformation' after regularly spending time at the gym. "I did it with a commitment to heavy weight lifting - being a woman of a certain age that is really gonna fend off the doctors, because resistance training is key" she said at the time.
"People think it's cardio and running - no! It's getting into that gym. Do not care what people think about you. I do it with YouTube and I do it from home with weights as well." While being a judge on the UK version of the Drag Race, Michelle has also appeared on all eight seasons of the All-Stars spin-off series.
