Chelsea backed for Karim Benzema transfer swoop after Armando Broja call
Chelsea have gone against the grain so far in the January transfer window.
With less than two weeks remaining of the current window, the Blues have yet to welcome a new signing to Stamford Bridge. That comes after the West London side broke the British transfer record to sign Enzo Fernandez 12 months ago.
While there hasn’t been any major business for Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino to oversee as of yet, that does not mean a number of players haven’t been linked with switches to Stamford Bridge. Take a look at some of the Chelsea-themed transfer rumours from over the past 24 hours.
Chelsea backed for Benzema swoop
Former Premier League goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has suggested that Chelsea would be an ideal destination for Karim Benzema. The former Real Madrid striker looks set to move away from Saudi Arabia this window.
He said: “I think Chelsea should say absolutely yes. I mean Arsenal are building a more long-term project with the young players.
Chelsea complete record-breaking Enzo Fernandez transfer after deadline day rush“Somebody like Karim Benzema coming in and upsetting, both the identity of the club and the wage structure. I think it’s harder for them to recover from. Given where Chelsea are and given who Chelsea have shown themselves to be, I think Karim Benzema coming in, giving a bit of experience and giving a bit of quality in that striker position, is something Chelsea desperately need.
“Just in terms of an easy fit and a natural fit. Benzema to Chelsea makes a whole lot of sense to me.”
Broja makes £50m decision
From one potential future Chelsea striker to a current one, now. Armando Broja has reportedly made the decision to stay at Stamford Bridge and prove his worth.
The Blues are reportedly open to selling the forward this winter and have slapped a £50m price tag on him. Wolves, West Ham and Fulham are all interested in him.
Despite that, Broja wants to stay at Chelsea and is determined to make a success of his spell at Stamford Bridge. He has started three out of the Blues’ last four Premier League games.

Sporting want to tie Gyokeres down
Sticking with forwards, Chelsea have been hit with a blow amid their chase for Sporting Lisbon striker Victor Gyokeres. The Blues had previously been credited with an interest in him with Pochettino keen to bolster his attack.
However, according to Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha, Sporting want to offer him a new deal. Any renewed contract would see his release clause increased from €100m (£85.8m) to €120m (£103m).
Gyokeres has scored 20 goals and notched ten assists for Sporting this season after a move from Championship side Coventry.
