Viewers aren't convinced about all the exes on the new series

Love Island fans aren't sold on the All Stars format - and many say it reminds them too much of another reality TV show.

Viewers have flooded twitter to say the new series is fast turning into Ex on the Beach and plenty say things are just too similar. The spin-off features stars from the past decade and of course, a number of them have met before. Some fans say they've seen this show before - the MTV programme where love-hunters come face-to-face with their former flames.

On Monday night, exes Callum Jones, 27, and Molly, 30, both entered the villa - with neither of them seemingly having any idea each other was going into the show. Days ago, Jake Cornish quit after being paired up with his old love interest Liberty Poole. Joshua Ritchie, the new bombshell, also gave Georgia Harrison a shock after his arrival.

But for some fans, it's all too familiar. One tweeted: "This season of #Loveisland is basically Ex on the beach no one can convince me otherwise" while another put: "This is more like Ex On The Beach rather than Love Island. They all know each other and it’s defeating the whole object of the show. #LoveIslandAllStars #LoveIsland".

A third fumed: "What is this, ex on the beach? stop with the exes, they’re an ex for a reason #LoveIsland #LoveIslandAllStars" But at least one person is happy with all the awkwardness, writing: "Am i the only one who doesn’t mind it being like ex on the beach? they all know each other anyways #LoveIsland".

Jake has broken his social media silence after quitting the show after just three days. He summoned his fellow Islanders to the fire pit, where he said: "Everyone can we go to the fire pit for a minute. I was here to find love and there is no one here I have that connection with. I don't want to waste time, I don't want to give my energy to someone and it's just forced, fake. I just want to let you all know I am going tonight."

Jake later released a statement issued through Love Island, which read: "After a few amazing days in the Villa, I’ve made the decision to leave Love Island: All Stars as I’ve realised that now isn’t the right time for me to find love as I would never want to force a connection. I have no regrets whatsoever as I’m so glad I got to enjoy my time in the Villa reuniting with some familiar faces as well finally getting an opportunity to clear the air with Liberty. I wish her and all of the other Islanders the very best and will be cheering them all on from home."

Jake later sat down for an interview with host Maya Jama to talk about his reasons for leaving, insisting that seeing ex Liberty in the villa had nothing to do with his reasons for going. He said: "Nah, me and Lib, we're wicked. We were sweet from the beginning, it was nice to see her to be honest with you, just to clear up things from before. Closure is key, we left, we're friends now."
