Love Island's Jake Cornish was all smiles as he arrived home

Love Island's Jake Cornish has arrived back in England after quitting the ITV show.

The star who first appeared on the programme back in series seven in 2021 had been widely speculated as an entry for All Stars. But upon his arrival in South Africa, he was left speechless when his ex-girlfriend, Liberty Poole walked in. Unbeknownst to Jake and Liberty, the public had been voting for them to couple up on day one.

But after just three days in the villa, he decided that he was walking away and returning home after failing to make a "connection" with anybody. During Wednesday night's episode, he revealed all to his fellow Islanders who were left speechless by his bombshell.

Now, 24 hours after the scenes aired, Jake has arrived back home and is preparing to put his short visit to South Africa behind him. Arriving at Heathrow airport, Jake looked thrilled to be back on home soil, in images seen by the Mirror. The reality star opted to wear black shorts with a black shirt, which he paired with a white t-shirt and black sliders as he made his way to an awaiting vehicle as he headed home.

Hours before landing in the UK, Jake took to social media to thank fans for their support as he shared his excitement to be reunited with his beloved dog. Alongside a picture of him flashing his pearly white teeth and his dog, he wrote: "Love to you all. Home time. Get to see my good boy."

During a chat with his fellow singletons, he said: "Everyone can we go to the fire pit for a minute? I was here to find love and there is no one here I have that connection with. I don't want to waste time, I don't want to give my energy to someone and it's just forced, fake. I just want to let you all know I am going tonight."

But shortly after leaving, he issued a statement and explained he never wanted to couple with somebody for the wrong reasons and wanted an authentic connection. He said: "After a few amazing days in the Villa, I've made the decision to leave Love Island: All Stars as I’ve realised that now isn’t the right time for me to find love as I would never want to force a connection.

"I have no regrets whatsoever as I'm so glad I got to enjoy my time in the Villa reuniting with some familiar faces as well finally getting an opportunity to clear the air with Liberty. I wish her and all of the other Islanders the very best and will be cheering them all on from home."

The pair had a turbulent relationship on the programme and hadn't spoken since their series of Love Island came to an end. Despite this, there was no bad blood between them and Liberty was overcome with emotion and admitted she didn't realise it would upset her.

"I can't just fake things for the sake of, [the] best thing for me to do is take myself out the situation," he told his ex, before adding: "I've had a wicked time! I hope you find someone in here. Remember, be yourself."

"Nah, me and Lib, we're wicked," he told host Maya Jama. "We were sweet from the beginning, it was nice to see her to be honest with you, just to clear up things from before. Closure is key, we left, we're friends now."
