With the Golden Globe and Emmy Awards taking Hollywood by storm in recent week, the 2024 Award season is officially in full swing.

And while the BAFTAs are due to take place in London next month, all eyes are on the upcoming Oscars which are due to take place in Los Angeles in March. The 96th Academy Awards will be hosted by American comedian Jimmy Kimmel, 56, and broadcast live from the Dolly Theatre in Hollywood.

And while the show is broadcast on ABC - the Disney owned American Broadcasting Company - film fans in the UK may be wondering how they can tune in to watch all the award giving and back slapping action. And it has now been revealed that a new home has been found for the ceremony in the UK - with a very familiar face set to give opinions, insights and quips about the event.

When are the Oscars 2024?

The 96th Academy Awards will be celebrated on Sunday 10 March 2024 - live from Hollywood in the USA. The awards show will be hosted on stage by Jimmy Kimmel and it is already known that Angela Bassett, Mel Brooks and Carol Littleton will be celebrated with Academy Honorary Awards.

The award - popularly known as The Oscars - will be celebrating the best of on screen talent and features from the year 2023. As a result, they are known as the 2023 awards, despite the ceremony being held in 2024.

When will the Oscar nominees be revealed and how can I watch in the UK?

While the ceremony takes place on Sunday 10 March, the nominees are revealed weeks in advance. On Tuesday 23 January 2024 the nominations are announced, and a glitzy nominees luncheon is held several weeks later on Monday 12 February.

Voting for the actual winners begins on Thursday 22 February and ends on Tuesday 27 February - giving vote counters plenty of time to tot up the votes and plan the main event which takes place almost two weeks later.

ITV have announced they will broadcast the global stream of the Oscars nominations live on ITVX on Tuesday 23 January - with the exact time of the nominations ceremony to be confirmed. Loose Women star Charlene White with ITV Arts Editor Nina Nannar will be involved in the nominations announcements.

ITV teased: "Charlene and Nina will] delve into the runners and riders and guide viewers through events as the cream of the Hollywood crop find out who is in with a chance of scooping a famed gold statuette."

How can I watch the Oscars 2024 in the UK?

For the first time in two decades, film fans will be able to watch the Oscars in full for free via ITV1 and ITVX on Sunday 10 March - with plenty of programs set to celebrate the big event. Footage from the ceremony will star rolling on ITVX from 9:30pm with presenter Ross King hosting live from the red carpet as guests begin to arrive.

Then, for the main ceremony, Jonathan Ross will be holding an ultimate Oscars party on ITV1 and ITVX from 10:30pm where he will be joined by a panel of movie-loving stars and special guests to review and analyse all the wins, losses and highlights from the night.

What other Oscars shows will be on ITV in 2024?

Film fans will be able to uncover sneak peek and behind-the-scenes content from the Oscars via ITVX throughout the ceremony and beyond that night. While the following evening, on ITV1 at 10:45pm, fans will be able to sit through a 90-minute highlights package from the ceremony.

Earlier in the day, TV fans can brace themselves for highlights from the awards and after parties to be broadcast via Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning, Loose Women and ITV New.
