A job seeker has been left ‘shocked and stunned’ after receiving a rejection letter from a company they had attended a job interview for, leaving them less than impressed with the reasons why they didn’t get the role.

After stating in the email that they wanted to thank the applicant for the time they had invested in the company’s interview process, it went on to say: “We interviewed a lot of highly qualified candidates for this role, and while we were very impressed with your experience and qualifications, we have decided to move forward with another candidate.”

However, after reading on, to hopefully find out more about why they had been rejected, they were stunned to see that the sender hadn’t even bothered to fill in the blanks. It read: “Our team really enjoyed getting to know you. We really appreciated your (say something personal about the candidate, what did you like about them. Why did we interview them? Do we want to consider them for future roles?)

The person who posted it on Reddit added the simple phrase 'fill in the blanks', which sent readers into a frenzy. One said: “It’s wild that they didn’t take the time to read it over and ensure they didn’t make any silly mistakes like this,” while another suggested sending back a response saying: “If you hire me, I can help you check your rejection emails, since you don’t do it.”

Another suggested sending a similar reply back: “Hi [Hiring Manager], Thank you so much for your [insert form or communication] in relation to [insert purpose of communication]. I appreciated your [insert an adjective in relation to how the situation was handled] and will consider [appropriate workplace action] in the future. Send it back and say you would appreciate that compliment now.”
