Dopey burglar drove straight to McDonald’s and used victim’s stolen bank card
A dopey thief who burgled a house was caught after driving straight to McDonald’s and using the victim’s bank card to pay for his food.
Jason Jones stole a wallet and car keys in the midnight raid as the victim slept before taking their car and heading to the fast food restaurant - a McDonald’s just two miles away in neighbouring Nantgarw, in South Wales.
The 38-year-old then crashed the car and left his McDonald’s coffee cup in the stolen car before running off. He has now been jailed for four years after the burglary on June 3, last year in Church Village, north of Cardiff, South Wales.
A South Wales Police spokeswoman said: “A McDonald’s bought by a thief using the victim's card led to his arrest. Jason Jones, 38, has been jailed for four years after a burglary in the early hours of 3 June 2023, when he entered the victim’s home in Church Village while the victim was sleeping.
“Whilst inside, Jones stole an array of items including the victim’s wallet and car keys. Jones then used the victim’s card to buy a McDonald's. He then also stole the victim’s car and crashed it a short time later before running away. A McDonald's coffee cup was retrieved from the stolen car and forensic as well as CCTV enquiries linked Jones to the offence.
