Newcastle toppled as Brits favourite stag do destination - see top 10
Benidorm has called Tyne on Newcastle as the No1 stag do destination for Brits.
Spain’s Costa hotspot edged the city into second place in a top 10 of places for grooms to party. Geordies will also likely be browned off by learning Newcastle was pipped by Liverpool as the best destination for hen nights.
Matt Mavir, boss of Last Night of Freedom, a hen and stag party travel specialist which compiles the list every year, said: “Stags just can’t get enough of Benidorm. It’s gloriously tacky and boasts a nightlife like nowhere else. It has gone from naff to cool, it is straightforward fun. It is the best and cheapest way to do it. Prices in the likes of Budapest and Dublin are through the roof.” He cited opening hours, often till 6am, and promotions of one Euro for a pint as reasons for Benidorm’s popularity.
Matt, Tyneside-based, added: “The only thing for us to do is to continue to welcome people to party Newcastle, and make sure we get back to the top of the table. To us it’s the best place in the world.”
Top stag night rivals included Edinburgh, Cardiff and Bristol and for hen nights, York.
