Fans of John Torodea and Lisa Faulkner will be able to see inside their marriage like never before as they have teamed up for a new series.

The couple, who tied-the-knot in 2019, are returning to screens with a new five week food series titled John & Lisa’s Food Trip Down Under where they drive around Western Australia sampling local food and wine. John, who was born and raised in ‌Melbourne before moving to Maitland, was thrilled to explore new parts of Australia for the series - and to have his wife at his side.

It is not the first show John, 58, and Lisa, 51, have made together, having previously collaborated on the cooking show ‌John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen. The pair say fans get a clear insight into their marriage as they were frequently filmed while on the road and they forgot that the cameras were there.

In stead of acting up to the cameras, they claim they relaxed into filming and thus their natural dynamic has ended up on the screen. Fans will be able to see the natural humour the couple enjoy together.

Discussing the upcoming new show, John said in an interview: “Whenever we do television together we are just being us. How we are on Weekend Kitchen for example is just how we are. For this series we got to wear GoPro cameras when we were driving together and were told that that was some of the best material because it was just so natural - with the odd funny remark or a grab of some chocolate from the glovebox.”

Lisa added: “For us, it was just great to taste and discover so much together as we went along - and to not do all the cooking for a change.”

The pair drove around Western Australia in an electric car - meaning they had to stop off to recharge. This lead to the pair - and the producing team - come across unexpected scenes that have also made it into the show.

John recalls of the filming process: “I remember getting up early one morning at the Karri Valley Resort in Pemberton and I just watched all these kangaroos come out - there must have been around 150 of them - so I told the team and the next morning all of us were there to watch and capture it. There were gorgeous kookaburras just sitting on the benches and all these kangaroos… It was really special.”

The couple admit they have also considered moving Down Under after filming the show. Lisa said: “We did come away thinking ‘I want to live here’... it was just so cool. I mean if Australia wasn’t so far away we’d be there all the time. But what was lovely about all of the areas we visited was that you could be in the Southern forest one moment and then within forty minutes, you could be by the sea on a white sandy beach. It was awesome, really amazing.”

John & Lisa’s Food Trip Down Under starts Saturday 20th January from 11.40am on ITV1 and ITVX.
