Amazon cuts price of electric Kärcher de-icer to help motorists during cold snap

There's nothing worse than getting out of the house in a morning rush to realise your car windscreen has frosted overnight, adding 10 minutes of standing out in the cold to your day. This is all the more frequent in January, especially as flurries of frost, snow, and ice settle across the UK.

As many of us awoke to snow this morning, Amazon has cut £10 off a nifty car device from Kärcher that will automatically scrape the ice off your car windscreen. The electric scraper fits perfectly in the palm of drivers' hands and works with a quick wipe across the frozen area.

The EDI 4 electric scraper can get to stubborn ice thanks to its plastic rotating blades, that lightly scrape off stuck pieces, a much quicker alternative than adding lukewarm water to a spray bottle and waiting for the ice to melt. That or the old-fashioned credit-card-style scraping that'll leave your hands frozen.

The price car scraper has now dropped to £48 on Amazon, but shoppers can also pick up a full set, Kärcher EDI 4 Limited Edition, with a spray ice solution and microfibre cloths for £55. Another similar product is being sold by the brand Bohisen for £36.

And it's been a hit with recent Amazon shoppers, many of whom have checked out the item this January, like one shopper who wished they'd found the product sooner. In a rave review of the scraper, they said: "I should have invested a long time ago.... helps me remove ice quickly and easily at the same time."

Another person said: "I was surprised how well it worked. During the cold spell, the window was really clear again in a very short time and without effort.

"I don't find the volume loud either, scraping with a scraper is certainly louder. So for me, the device is worth it and saves me cold fingers."

However, there is one thing we spotted in the Amazon reviews UK shoppers may want to be prepared for, and that's the Kärcher device comes with a European plug. So, just make sure you have the right adaptor lying around at home before you buy.
