Love Island's Chris Taylor floored over twist as he questions 'sick prank'

Love Island All Stars' Chris Taylor was left gobsmacked by a twist on Monday night's opening episode, questioning if it was a 'sick prank'.

Joining Chris in the villa are Georgia Harrison, Toby Aromolaran, Kaz Kamwi, Georgia Steel, Anton Danyluk, Hannah Elizabeth, Jake Cornish, Demi Jones, Luis Morrison, Liberty Poole and Mitchel Taylor. The first instalment of the special spin-off series saw returning host Maya Jama make a glamorous entrance while the first All Star couples are formed.

Maya said: "Obviously this is Love Island: All Stars so things have got to be a little bit different haven’t they. Well, I wonder who out of you fancies each other already? Boys come and stand with me." After gathering the boys in front of the fire pit, she added: "Girlies, in a minute I am going to ask you to stand next to the boy that you fancy the most. It doesn’t matter if more than one of you stands next to the same boy but you have to make your decision right now. Off you go!"

Within seconds, Chris, 33, proved to be the most popular boy as Georgia H, Hannah and Kaz all stood by him. Chris was left stunned, joking: "Girls, what's going on?" before adding: "Sorry boys, I didn't see this coming either! It's not a prank, is it? That's a sick prank if it is, Maya! It's a lovely feeling, Maya, not going to lie!"

Viewers were delighted to see Chris being the most popular boy. Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: "Chris finally has the girls lined up for him omg #loveisland", a different account put: "i don’t blame the girls for all standing next to Chris #LoveIsland!" another viewer wrote: "Chris getting picked by three girls I know that’s right #loveisland #LoveIslandAllStars" while a different account added: "I am so glad that girls are picking Chris this time, he was my fav on his season #LoveIsland!"

Yet this wasn't the only twist as host, Maya, 29, was quick to reveal a shocking twist as she informed the Islanders of the public vote. Maya said: "The decision of who you couple up with is not down to any of you…it is down to the public. They have already voted for who will couple up with who and I will be back later tonight to reveal the results of the public vote."

Later that night, Maya re-entered the villa and gathered the Islanders by the pool, revealing: "Girls earlier today I asked you to reveal who you fancy the most but the decision of who you will couple up with is actually in the hands of the public. Are you ready to find out who they have chosen for you? Let’s do this!"

The first couple to be formed were Chris and Demi, who revealed earlier on the show that Chris had previously slid into her DMs. The next couple were Luis and Georgia H, Toby was next to be coupled up with Georgia S with the two having history. Next up, Anton was coupled up with Hannah, exes Jake and Liberty were paired in awkward scenes and Mitchel was partnered with Kaz.

However, there was even more drama as Callum Jones, who recently split from Molly Smith, entered as a bombshell not realising his ex Molly was the second bombshell as they were awkwardly reunited in the villa. The duo were given the choice to either split up a recently formed couple or pair up together with the episode ending on a cliffhanger.
