Love Island's Jake Cornish says 'sorry will not come out my mouth' to Liberty

Jake Cornish says he has nothing to apologise to ex Liberty Poole for as they prepare for a stormy reunion in the Love Island All Stars villa.

The showdown will be the first time the pair have seen each other in three years. Fans will remember the tearful end to their romance in Series 7, where Jake was accused of gaslighting and faking his feelings for Liberty before she dumped him days before the final having been together from the start.

As he braces himself to come face to face with her once again, Jake said: “I have nothing to apologise for. I won’t say sorry because I have done nothing to her. Sorry will not come out of my mouth. I hope she’s done well and her family are fine and her friends and that’s it. That’s all I ask.”

He went on: "I could bet my house they’ve put her in there. I’ve not seen her and I’ve not spoken to her. I just hope she’s done well and that she’s fit and healthy. That’s all I ask of someone that they are fit and healthy. If you’re in a good headspace that’s it.”

With fans being given the chance to vote to pair up the first couples of the series, there is a chance that Jake could find himself living very closely with Liberty has the water engineer says there is little chance of them rekindling their romance.

“I’ve matured. It’s not something I’ve really thought about but I’m 90 per cent no. Look, it’s done. Everyone’s had their say. The public were on her side. You just have to deal with it, I can’t go back in time. I’m not going to sit here and cry about it. It is what it is and you move on.”

Asked if he’s learned any lessons following his dramatic time in the villa the first time round, Jake said: “I’ve grown up, I don’t listen to everyone’s opinions now. If someone has something to say that’s fine but I think when I was on there the last time there were a lot of opinions in my relationship with Liberty. You go off what other people think rather than what you think and that’s what broke it down quickly. Now I don’t care what other people think.”

Jake said a motive for returning to the villa is to try and change the public's perception him. “The last time the public saw me as a sort of f*ck boy. I want people to see another side of me and not just this lovey dovey Jake that there was before. Now I’m older and I’m matured I think there will be a different storyline for me.

“If all my eggs are in one basket then I’ll give you my full attention, but I think last time as the show went on I think a lot of people got involved [in my relationship] and it went Pete Tong after a few weeks and that’s what broke us down. I want to show the public the real me, the fun, the bubbly the cheeky chap. I hope that gets shown but it’s TV at the end of the day. I won’t know what’s being shown until I am out.”

One thing that remains unchanged from his time on the last series is Jake’s notorious love for ‘nice feet’ and his commitment to keep the villa clean. In series 7 he came to blows with Liberty after saying she gave him the ‘ick’ for how messy she left the bedroom.

“She was messy. I don’t like clutter and mess. If a girl’s been messy then a conversation will have to be had. I’m a clean person; my house is very clean and I’m very specific in how things are put away. That’s just something I’ve always had. I don’t like clutter being left around the house. Last time the kitchen, oh my god it was an absolute bombsite. I won’t be staying up all night cleaning again.

“The foot thing got blown out of proportion. I got asked if i like feet and I said, "Yeah I appreciate a nice foot". Then it turned out I had foot fetish and I’ve just gone with it. If people know me as that then that’s what they know me as! It is what it is.”
