Rebel Wilson admits gaining 30lbs due to 'stress' after dramatic weight loss

Rebel Wilson admitted stress caused her to pile on around 30lbs, almost half of the incredible 80lbs she lost last year.

The Pitch Perfect actress revealed on Monday that she'd put on weight after "losing focus" on her previously "healthy lifestyle". The 43-year-old blamed "new movies" and her all-new memoir for her recent weight gain, informing followers on Instagram.

"Working really hard has meant that, coz of all the stress, I’ve gained 14kgs (30 pounds)!," she captioned a hot tub snap. "It makes me feel bad about myself…it shouldn’t…but it does I'm really proud of the work I've been doing on new movies and my memoir, it’s just been a LOT and I've lost focus on my healthy lifestyle."

Her statement struck a chord with fans, as some agreed they "feel the same way". One commented: "You are amazing, your doing incredible work, try not to be too hard on yourself." While another added: "Every. Single. Day. Try to not focus on it. You are human. We stress. And right now life is stressful."

Last June, Rebel admitted gaining weight after welcoming her daughter. "Now I can’t go to the gym as often as I used to; I’m just not working out as much, so that has slowed me down," she told MailOnline, revealing she'd been dealing with a "lack of sleep".

It was in December last year that Rebel showed off her impressive weight loss in an unzipped wetsuit for some seriously sultry snaps while posing on a beach in Fiji. The Australia-born actress posed up a storm in a photo shared on Instagram. Donning a bright orange wetsuit, Rebel teased fans as she left the front of it slightly unzipped.

Sharing the snap on her page, which has almost 12 million followers, Rebel wrote a caption that read: "Find me in Fiji". And fans of the Aussie beauty were incredibly quick to gush over the starlet. "You are the best," penned one person. Another then said: "Hi Rebel you look fantastic." While a third swooned: "I gasped. Girl, you've transformed yourself." While a fourth follower account simply penned: "Sexy and hot."

A few years ago, Rebel underwent a massive health kick in her life that saw her shed a whopping 5.5 stone. After shedding the weight, Rebel gushed over how the transformation left her feeling "so much healthier". Speaking on the Life Uncut podcast in January 2022, Rebel said she been a "normal size" when she was younger, but in her twenties gained weight after she was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome). She then went on to add that most comedians "often have something physical about them that's abnormal" – which is why they take up comedy.

"Those people tend to go better in comedy," she said, "so I turned what was turned into a lot of agents as a disadvantage into my advantage." And then Speaking on Drew Barrymore's talk show last year, Rebel opened up further about her "Year Of Health" when she candidly said: "For the last few years I've been theming my years, so I had the Year Of Fun, last year I had the Year Of Love and this year I’m like, 'It’s going to be the Year Of Health', because I turned 40 this year in March and I never really focused on my health which was probably obvious."

In November 2021, Rebel revealed how she used to eat up to 3,000 calories "most days", before switching to a high-protein diet, which involved eating fish and chicken breast. She admitted that there is still room for cheating on the diet, here and there, and said she was aiming for an overall "healthy balance".
