Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish's tense reunion as ITV bosses brace for chaos

Love Island bosses are braced for fireworks when Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish come face to face in the villa after the exes have both been announced for the All Stars series.

Back in the 2021 series of Love Island Jake, 26, was devastated when Liberty, 24, called off their romance days before the final of series seven after accusing him of faking his feelings for her to try and win the show.

As the pair gear up to reunite on the All Stars series of Love Island, which launches Monday January 15, all eyes will be on their first conversation. Lifting the lid on Jake's intentions this time around, an insider has revealed that he could possibly try his luck again with the blonde bombshell.

The source told the Mirror: "Jake is hoping to make amends second time round and will have more reason to be on guard as Liberty's best pal Kaz Kamwi will be by her side. There will be no room for messing up even if he does attempt to recouple with Liberty.

"Liberty and Jake had an extremely awkward reunion on Aftersun at the end of their series but it will be nothing compared to discovering they will be living in the same house for weeks on end. There were rumours the pair had given things another go after the show but the truth is they've not seen each other for years so things are going to get very uncomfortable.

"Living with your ex is a nightmare scenario for anyone but when the break-up was as explosive as this one, bosses will be predicting Liberty and Jake's villa return will be extremely compelling viewing."

Speaking about her ex Jake being in the villa ahead of her All Stars debut, Liberty said: "It’s always going to be awkward isn’t it, it’s always going to be weird seeing someone that you’ve been with getting with someone else. I wish my exes nothing but the best. I'm going to be focused on my own journey so if it was to happen I won’t be worrying about them - so I'll stay focussed on my goal, which is to find love."

Meanwhile, when asked what he's doing differently this time around, Jake told ITV producers: "There is nothing major I would do differently but I have definitely matured in the two years since first being on the show. I look at things differently and respond differently. When it comes to people's opinions, I don’t sit on the fence anymore. That is my way of life now, so I will take that into the Villa."

Elsewhere, Maya Jama will return once again to host the latest instalment of ITV2 series as past bombshells and iconic islanders enjoy a second - or possibly third - stint on the reality TV show.

Love Island All Stars 2024 kicks off on Monday 15 January at 9pm.
