TikTok star lands Blue Peter presenting role and becomes BBC show's 43rd host
The world’s longest-running children's TV show has today unveiled Shini Muthukrishnan, 22, as its newest Blue Peter presenter.
Shini will co-host alongside Abby Cook, Joel Mawhinney and Henry the dog on her first live show airing Friday 19th January on CBBC and BBC iPlayer at 5.00pm.
"Being part of the Blue Peter team is such a surreal and exciting feeling. It’s my first time on the big screen and I can’t wait for all the adventures to come!" Shini said as she was unveiled as the 43rd Blue Peter presenter on Monday.
The new BBC star went on to reveal how former Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton has influenced her, saying: "I have really fond memories of Blue Peter, Helen and Barney were my era. As a kid, I looked up to Helen Skelton, she seemed fearless on screen. She took on incredible challenges with such a headstrong attitude that made me think I can be fearless too."

Blue Peter will be the 22-year-old's first TV presenting role following her rise to fame on social media.
The new Blue Peter star recently graduated from King's College London where she studied Philosophy, Politics & Economics, and has experience of working with children, having taught children in Hong Kong during her gap year and volunteered at a youth camp in Birmingham. She is passionate about engaging young people and the possibility of having a positive impact on children’s lives.
Shini will certainly be earning her Blue Peter badge with her first challenge by taking part in some incredible aircraft aerobatics and being put through her paces. In her first live show on Friday 19th January, Shini will be attempting to bath Henry the dog and cooking up a tasty treat.
