Chloe Madeley says she's been 'burned' as she opens up on James Haskell split

Chloe Madely has hinted that she and soon-to-be ex-husband James Haskell both contributed to the end of their marriage.

The 36-year-old former Dancing On Ice contestant was married to 38-year-old rugby player James in 2018 and they welcomed a daughter named Bodhi in August 2022. While the duo were regarded as having a rock solid relationship, rumours began to fly of trouble last October when a documentary series about their lives was airing on ITV.

While the show followed Chloe and James's happy life together, they were forced to announce they had split as photos of the rugby star looking close with a mystery blonde went viral while the series was on air. In the months since, the former couple have taken barbed swipes at each other through the media.

Now Chloe has hinted she has noticed it is not great for her and James to be making digs at each other. She gave a telling response during an online Q&A with fans when one follower asked her for the "Best advice to be happy?"

Addressing the question, Chloe wrote in response: "Just be nice to people and you'll feel so much better about yourself and your life. I recently learned that fighting fire with fire does, in fact, leave you feeling burned.”

She added: "Surround yourself with people who impress you with their kindness and aim to pay it back, and forward." Her comments come just hours after James discussed the collapse of their marriage on Channel 5’s The Jeremy Vine Show on Friday.

Show host Jeremy, 58, mentioned that Chloe had been on the show the week before, and declared: "I was about to say your wife and I thought: 'No, ex-wife or ex.' How would you describe each other?" James clarified: "She's still technically my wife... We are co-parenting."

He then revealed he had tuned in to the episode while looking after his daughter at home. James said: "Listen we are co-parenting I'm still living at home. I was watching, I was looking after Bodhi, the full hands-on co-parenting.

"But she was brilliant. Chloe is always fantastic. She is one of the best writers and has the ability of articulating points in the best ways… When she comes on here she is fantastic."

The rare complements came after he had previously hit out at Chloe. In scenes from their TV show, titled A Family Affair, viewers saw James shrug off Chloe’s concerns that he got photographed with bikini clad women and bluntly told her to “go and speak to a therapist” adding: “it's not my problem.”

And last month he hit out at his wife during a podcast tour show, titled World Cup Afterparty: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, where he branded Chloe "unreasonable, overly critical and insensitive, and unfair in arguments”. He also hinted that he anticipates their inevitable divorce to be expensive, saying on the podcast show: “I need the cash because I am about to lose half of it.”
