Christine McGuinness is said to be "devastated" after learning that her ex husband Paddy is making a mockumentary all about their divorce.

The 35-year-old TV personality, who shares three children with the comedian, found out about Paddy's latest TV offering after reading about it online, has been left 'distraught' that her heartbreak is set to become 'the butt of jokes.'

The couple announced they had split in July last year, following 11 years of marriage. The duo still live in the same house and co-parent their children, Penelope, nine, and twins Felicity and Leo, seven, who all have autism.

A source close to Christine, who has also been diagnosed with autism in recent years, told The Sun: "Christine is distraught that their divorce is going to be the butt of the jokes. She’s completely broken over the divorce and we are genuinely worried about her. Paddy didn’t tell her about the pilot. The fact she had to find out online, like everyone else, that he was doing this has broken her even more."

News of the mockumentary emerged when Paddy appeared on This Morning and told hosts Rylan Clark and Emma Wills that his "money has run out". He joked his financial situation had prompted his return to the stage for a stand up comedy tour. Paddy has not been on stage for six years.

When asked the reason behind his decision to revisit the comedy circuit, he said: "Erm, well the money's run out now so it took about eight years to spend it all and I'm like, 'I've got to build it back up'. So weirdly, writing a tour does take a lot of your time. When we had the break from Top Gear, I'd been planning it for a long time, I went, 'There's a window there'."

And he also took to social media to share the news with his fans. He wrote: "I've been itching to tell you this! After a six year break I'm finally back on Tour!!! Paddy McGuinness - Nearly There. All pre ticket sale links in my Bio. See you in the New Year… live!!!!"

Paddy's stand up show comes after Top Gear was axed on the back of Freddie Flintoff's near fatal car crash during filming of the show. Paddy, who shot to fame on Phoenix Nights, said that he had spent a lot of money and he plans to rebuild it by going back on the road.

Following Freddie's crash, the BBC announced that it would pause production. And Paddy jumped straight onto Instagram and posted a series of pictures of him and his co-hosts on the show. He captioned the gallery of pictures saying: "We were always going to be b*****s but we were your b******s. Thanks for all the love over the years folks, it was very much appreciated." And fans wasted no time in commenting on his post. One person said: "Love all you guys. You're gonna be missed...Hopefully you'll all be back sooner rather than later."
