Married At First Sight's Luke and Jordan's fight cancelled as one star drops out

Married At First Sight UK stars Luke Worley and Jordan Gayle won’t be throwing punches in front of a live audience after all - as their fight has been cancelled.

The lads were contestants on the 2023 season of E4’s high drama reality dating show - where 30-year-old Luke was matched with 31-year-old Jay Howard and 26-year-old Jordan was married off to 25-year-old Erica Roberts. Fans of the show will recall Luke and Jay were removed from the series after he threatened to fight Jordan - leaving show bosses and the dating experts appalled.

The pair were due to settle their differences in the ring on 9 February in a grudge fight at London’s Indigo O2. However, it has transpired that Luke has withdrawn from the fight - meaning their scheduled battle has now been cancelled.

Far from hiding away from the fight, however, Luke had been advised not to plough ahead for a February fight date as he had not had enough time to train in order to fight properly. An announcement was made from boxing organisers DKM Plush who shared the update via social media.

In an Instagram post, the organisers revealed: "It is with deep regret we announce that the scheduled bout between Luke Worley & Jordan Gayle has been cancelled by ourselves (DKM Plush). Boxing can be a brutal, unforgiving sport & due to the comments outside of training for the scheduled bout, we have concerns that Luke hasn't been able to train as we would expect from him worthy of a 5 x 2 min bout on February 9th.

"We understand that on the back of reality shows, there are comments & opportunities that are only available for a while. The time in the spotlight off the back of taking part in such a series is short lives & we understand that comment to a regulated training camp is hard to maintain.

"However, as much as we understand the busy schedules of both fights, we would still expect a full camp to take place to ensure both are ready to enter the ring on Feb 9th & unfortunately, this hasn't been the case for Luke."

They continued: "Whilst we regret this bout between Luke and Jordan will not take place, we are happy to announce that Jordan will still be fighting on the action-packed card & a new opponent will be announced in the coming days."

Some MAFS fans had been confused over the fact the pair were going to fight in the first place. Responding to an interview that DKM Plush had previously arranged between Luke and Jordan, one confused fan wrote: “What gets me is Jordan got luke kicked off Mafs cause he didn’t want to be in the same room as Luke but now can go head to head and fight him.”

While most of the fans who tuned in backed Jordan to win the battle anyway, with one writing: “Omg this is Halarious like a couple of schoolboys having some beef . Defo think Jordan gonna knock him clean out.”
