Love Island's Liberty on what she'll say to ex Jake Cornish in All Stars villa

Love Island’s Liberty Poole has opened up about how she'll handle being reunited with Jake Cornish in the All Stars villa.

The exes have both made it to the first legends cast-list, with ITV bosses hoping for fireworks when the pair reunite at the series launch on Monday. Liberty and Jake have not crossed paths since the Brummie babe tearfully dumped the engineer days before the Series 7 final after accusing him of faking his feelings. The pair’s rocky romance had viewers screaming at their TVs in 2021 before Liberty finally realised Jake just wasn't that into her and left the villa single but with her head held high.

While Liberty doesn’t yet know that Jake will be joining in her for the spin-off All Stars series, she has revealed how she’ll handle any tension if he does crop up among the cast of ex-islanders.

Insisting there won't be any bad blood on her part, Liberty said: “If he’s in there and wants a conversation then I’m happy to talk. At the time I didn’t have any regrets about my experience in the villa. I learned a lot about myself and [by leaving] I definitely did what was right for me at the time.

"I will wish him the best and if we are both in there together then I want him to focus on finding love because that’s definitely what I’m going to be doing," added Liberty. "I’m going to be focused on finding someone and I don’t want me and Jake being in the same room to take away from each other’s experiences. I think we’ll be civil. Maybe we could even be mates? Maybe! Who knows.

“I’m hoping for a better experience this time," she added. "I hope I leave with someone because that’s the whole point of going on. I want to leave with a fittie with a good personality and a good heart.”

While Liberty hopes things can be at least civil between her and Jake she has ruled out ever reconciling with the Weston-super-Mare native.

“I am a believer in second chances but in this case I don’t think so. Jake and I ended because there was some incompatibilities there. I don’t regret my decision. But for me, I will now be focused on new connections.”

Jake, 26, and Liberty, 24, were coupled up from day one on their series and went from strength to strength. After telling each other they loved each other days in, the duo were nicknamed 'Jiberty', sailed through numerous re-couplings and even had sex in the villa.

However, cracks began to show with Jake telling fellow islanders he didn’t feel physically attracted to the blonde. He was also accused of playing up to the cameras. After their final date, Liberty finally confronted Jake about his true feelings after hearing him say he gave her the ‘ick.’

Liberty then shocked viewers by dumping Jake just days before the final - abruptly ending the journey for them both. She admits she hasn’t seen Jake in years so Monday night’s reunion will be must-watch viewing for fans of the dating series.

Revealing she’s not spoken to her ex in three years, Liberty said: “I saw him one time after the villa at my friend [and fellow former islander] Lucinda Strafford’s birthday party. But that was the only time I properly saw him in person and I haven’t spoken to him since."

Liberty says after the painful end to her original series, her mum has given her some words of advice before heading into the ITV2 dating show for a second time. “My mum said 'Oh please don’t tell someone you love them after two weeks again, Lib'. But I'm a hopeless romantic, I fall in love so easily. I fall for people without knowing all their personality traits. I need to take my time. If I’m into someone I’m normally all there. But I need to be sure before I say 'I love you.'”

Liberty says Molly Mae Hague and Tommy Fury are her Love Island couple goals and she hopes to emulate their success this series.

“Molly Mae and Tommy Fury are the perfect family they are so cute," she gushed. I definitely want to be a mum one day and have a family. Obviously I’m young so I’m not rushing into it. But I’ve been single two and a half years so I’m ready to ditch the hot girl summer and move onto bae-cation!”

Liberty said she's also returning for her second shot at finding love with a new found body-confidence, after learning to accept her curves following her first foray into reality TV.

“A few years on I’m more mature and more assured of who I am as a person," she said. "I’m more confident in my own skin. I’m a little bit more curvy but I won’t hold back on my bikinis this year so you’ll be seeing a lot of cute outfits and I’ll be embracing my body for sure.”

But there’s one thing Liberty has ruled out about her next villa appearance. “I’m not planning on having sex this time. If you’re in a relationship with someone then it happens in the moment and it’s not something you can prepare for. However, I’m not planning on it this time.”

Love Island: All Stars will launch on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX and STV on January 15 at 9pm, with Maya Jama returning to host.
