The hottest and most anticipated movies and TV shows to stream in 2024
This year is shaping up to be a good one for telly addicts with lots of laughs, surprises and drama in store.
More than 67% of the population have signed up to subscription services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Now and Disney+. Some 40 million of us even like to binge-watch our favourite shows by streaming them back-to-back.
And there is no denying that what we watch on TV has a big impact on our day-to-day lives.
Prime Video’s Christmas smash Saltburn, for example, is the service’s most streamed film this month in the UK. The dark comedy, starring Barry Keoghan and Carey Mulligan, also propelled Sophie Ellis- Bextor’s 2001 single Murder on the Dancefloor back to No.8 in
the charts.
And on Netflix, the Harlan Coben thriller Fool Me Once, starring Michelle Keegan, rocketed to the top of the UK streaming charts as the new year began, with 6.6 million of us tuning in for the opening episode.

Doctor Who
Starring Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education), Bonnie Langford (early Doctor Who ) and Millie Gibson ( Coronation Street ), with Russell T Davies returning as head writer and executive producer.
Entering its 61st year with its 14th series and a new Time Lord and companion, the cult sci-fi show promises to be a winner.

Rivals
Starring David Tennant (Doctor Who), Danny Dyer ( EastEnders ) and Aidan Turner (Poldark), its executive producers are Rivals author Jilly Cooper and former EastEnders boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins.

Griselda
Starring Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) who is also executive producer.
The six-part series is a fictionalised dramatisation of the life of Griselda Blanco, the Colombian drug lord who created and presided over one of the most powerful cartels in history during the 1970s and 1980s.

The Way
Starring Steffan Rhodri (Gavin and Stacey) and Callum Scott Howells (It’s a Sin), it’s directed and co-created by Michael Sheen.
Tapping into the social and political chaos of today’s world, it imagines a civil uprising starting in a small Welsh industrial town and follows the Driscoll family as they are forced to flee their home and their old lives.

Renegade Nell
Starring Louisa Harland (Derry Girls), Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck), Adrian Lester (Trigger Point) and Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso), the series creator is Sally Wainwright, of HappyValley and Gentleman Jack fame.
This period drama about Britain’s most feared highwaywoman is based on the real-life story of Nell Jackson. She was forced to turn to crime in the 18th century after being framed for murder.

Suspect: Series 2
Starring Anne-Marie Duff, left (The Salisbury Poisonings) and Ben Miller (Armstrong and Miller).
