These hacks are seriously easy.

Every winter, condensation plagues many homes and it is more than a minor annoyance because it can quickly lead to mould and mildew growing in your home if it is left untreated.

Mould in the home can cause health issues - particularly in those who have respiratory issues - and damage to your soft furnishings, clothes, and the structural integrity of your home, which could be seriously costly to fix. Condensation that forms in between the panes of your windows can seem tricky to get rid of, but these expert-approved hacks promise to banish the issue once and for all.

The reason that condensation often becomes a bigger issue in the colder months, is because of the difference in temperature between the inside of your home and the outside. When the warm air meets the colder window, any moisture in the air turns into condensation.

If your windows are made of two panes of glass, the condensation can start to form between them where it gets trapped and is more tricky to remove. The experts from Green Match - a company that helps its customers find the best prices on making their homes eco-friendly - explained in a blog post on their website that there are several simple ways to get rid of this pesky kind of condensation.

Firstly, they recommend opening the window for at least a few minutes every day to allow ventilation, which will help minimise the build-up of condensation and also wipe away any moisture you can from the window's surface with a lint cloth or a piece of newspaper.

Another tip is to use a dehumidifier in the room in question, or an air conditioner to lower the humidity levels. The experts also recommend using a hair dryer on the window - or a heat gun - to get rid of any moisture that's lurking between the panes.

With this one, they advise that you "be sure to move the heat source around in a circular motion as you heat the window, so that all areas of moisture are removed."

They also recommend that you use a vinegar-soaked towel in between the two window panes where condensation has been appearing, leave it overnight, and "the vinegar will help to absorb the moisture in the air, and the towel will act as a barrier to prevent warm air from coming into contact with the cold glass."

Finally, they recommend checking that the sealant around your window is intact, as it may need replacing to prevent this from becoming a recurring issue, and opting for a "dehumidifying product specifically designed for double-pane windows".

If none of these work, then it's time to call in a professional, who may be able to reseal the window that's causing the problem for you.
