Other celebrity guests included Kate Thorton and former EastEnders actress Tamzin Outhwaite. But it wasn't just her stellar performance that attracted the attention of her fans - her age did also, as many could not believe her age. Taking to X, also known as Twitter, one fan said: "I refuse to believe that Mel C is 50 today. In my head she's still doing backflips in tracksuits & if she was 50 that would mean I'd be turning 40 in 5 years!"

Another person said: "Mel C is 50 today I’m honestly shocked." And a third commented: "Would u believe if I say that you look and sound better at 50 than in your 20s?!" Mel first found fame as part of the Spice Girls in 1994 and the group's single Wannabe soared to No1 across 37 countries , two years later.

The first six singles also reached the top spot and the band, which also included Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham and Mel B, became the poster children of 90's feminism. At the height of their fame, Geri quit the group in 1998 and the band took a break two years later. All five members then embarked on solo careers and became successful in their own right.

In 2007, they briefly reunited for a worldwide tour held at London's O2 arena which sold out within two minutes. And five years later, they performed at London's Olympic closing ceremony. And while speculation of a reunion has been rife of late, Mel teased fans with a possible reunion.

In a recent interview, she said: "As we get older, the Spice Girls are learning the need to give each other space. In the ‘90s, we would go 24/7. We were young, we were ambitious, we were under a lot of pressure, we were knackered and there were flare-ups. All bands have similar stories, but as time has gone on, we just have that real respect and appreciation for each other."

She added: "Because we know without each other, we never would have achieved what we did and we wouldn’t have the lives and careers that we have now, so it’s quite beautiful.I love it when bands get back together after a break of five or 10 years because you know they probably appreciate it more than ever.”
