Harry Kane equalled Robert Lewandowski’s half-season Bundesliga record after scoring again in Bayern Munich ’s 3-0 win over Hoffenheim.

The German giants made light work of their opponents on Friday night with the England forward bagging their third in the final minute of the game. It means he's now scored 22 times in 16 outings - which brings him level with the legendary Pole.

Kane, who wears the No 9 shirt previously donned by Lewandowski, now has the chance in next week’s game against Werder Bremen to surpass the now Barcelona striker's tally by the halfway stage of the campaign as he continues his blistering start to life in Germany.

When Lewandowski set the record for most goals in the first half of the season, he went on to break Gerd Muller's historic record of most goals scored in a Bundesliga season, which had stood at 40 for years. Kane currently sits right on track to equal the Polish legend's record of 41 goals.

Bayern's win was their first chance to club and German legend Franz Beckenbauer, who died earlier this week. There were a number of tributes - the outside of the stadium emblazoned with the words ‘Danke Franz’ as the country came together to acknowledge their finest ever player.

The Bavarian's win keeps them in second, a point behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen who are yet to lose a game. Jamal Musiala was the star of the show as he scored twice for Bayern.

Kane became renowned at Tottenham for developing his game, which saw him drop deep to increase his influence on the game and insists that remains part of his style in Germany: "The boss has his way of how he wants to play with the formation and set positions.

"But of course there's times you have to feel it in the game, you have to know when to drop, even without the ball, like stopping a counter. So yes there's a base from the coach we try to stick to, but in every game you need individual quality to try and make something happen. I'm experienced enough to know the game and try and use that to our advantage."
