Bradley Walsh suffers with a "seriously bad" eye condition.

The Gladiators host, who presents the BBC series with his son Barney, has spoken out previously on his health struggles and revealed he suffers with blepharitis – an eye condition which causes itchy, swollen eyelids and can result in the sufferer's eyes being stuck together when they wake in the morning. Bradley opened up about his symptoms during an interview with GB News host Eamonn Holmes.

He said: "People don’t realise I have seriously bad blepharitis. I have to take one pill a day for it or I really struggle. I am going to need my eyes operated on at some point to sort it out. So many times, people have commented on how I look. But they don’t realise. If I take medication though, I'm fine."

The Chase host spoke about his health three years previously in 2020 when he said he felt "lucky" after being warned by doctors of a "silent killer" which was impacting his health. After managing to get his cholesterol levels down, Bradley recalled: "I was a time bomb.

"I was quite lucky in regards to the calcium test but my doctor said I produce too much cholesterol. It’s a silent killer. I thought, 'Oh crikey, I’m gonna be bang in trouble here if I don’t lose the weight and start dealing with this.'"

Bradley hosts a brand new BBC reboot of Gladiators this weekend alongside his son Barney in their first father-and-son presenting roles. The presenter promises the iconic series will "stay true to the original" and fans will be thrilled with the format.

Speaking out on his first presenting role with his son, Bradley said: "It was really good and great fun for us to be part of the show. We’d done five series of ‘Breaking Dad’, so it was good fun to be able to stand together on camera and present together as we know how each other works."

BBC viewers will meet a whole new bunch of Gladiators ready to go up against hopeful members of the British public. The new Gladiators include former Team GB sprinter and Olympic bobsledder Montell ' Fire ' Douglas who held the British woman's record for fastest 100m sprint at 11.05 seconds.

Matt 'Legend' Morisa is a former Championship bronze medal-winning long and triple jumper and silver medal-winning powerlifter while Livi 'Diamond' Sheldon is a bodybuilder who previously played football for Worcester City Women. Other contestants include a former Team GB sprinter and BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year winner and the show's first deaf Gladiator.
