Penny Lancaster's sweet tribute to her 'darling' husband Sir Rod Stewart
Sir Rod Stewart's wife Penny Lancaster posted a lovely message to her "darling" husband on his 79th birthday earlier this week.
The tribute was shared on social media and showed the couple enjoying cocktails on an animal print sofa as the Baby Jane singer celebrated his milestone birthday. "Happy birthday darlin," Penny simply captioned the post on Wednesday.
Rod's son Sean also celebrated his dad's birthday with a series of photos, including a funny one of Rod with a balloon string around his nose. He captioned his post: "Happy bday dad I love you so much," while his mum Alana added: "Happy Birthday, Rod!"
Rod was married to his first wife, Alana, from 1979 until their divorce in 1984. Alana, an actress and former model, was also previously married to George Hamilton and had dated Elvis.
The singer's 75th birthday follows Rod and his family welcoming in the new year with his family in Scotland after his first ever appearance on Jools Holland's Annual Hootenanny aired on the BBC. Rod made his debut on annual show on New Year's Eve, with Joss Stone, Olivia Dean, Paul Jones, PP Arnold, Raye, Sugababes and The Mary Wallopers also joining Jools and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra as they rang in 2024 in style.
'I started my business with £50 at uni - now it's a multi-million pound empire'But as Rod wowed BBC viewers with his stint on pre-recorded special on New Year's Eve, the Maggie May and his family were actually living it up in a five-star hotel up in Scotland - enjoying their "first ever #hogmanay" and embracing their Scottish heritage. After celebrating his beloved football team Celtic’s 2-1 win over Rangers earlier in the week, Rod, his wife Penny and their 18-year-old son Alistair were spotted enjoying a break at five-star Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire.
Taking to Instagram again on New Year's Day, Penny shared snaps of how she and her loved ones rang in 2024 - with Rod and his two sons Alastair and Aiden rocking kilts as they celebrated a new year in Scottish style. "First ever #hogmanay boys are proud of their Scottish heritage," Penny captioned the sweet update. " #happynewyear @aidenstew_1888 @alastairwstewart @sirrodstewart."
"What a photo! Happy New Year you gorgeous lot xxx," one fan commented underneath Penn's snap on Monday, with a second adding: "Outstanding Family Photo. A heritage piece. Best wishes to all for an amazing 2024." Another Instagram user added: "Just watched Jools' Hootenanny, best one in years!"
